Yeah, CA is the largest car market in the nation. You can still buy a used car, and I imagine anyone who wants to get around the law and get an ICE powered car will find a way to do so.

This changes a lot... Tesla wins because they are the big dog. How will we charge? Aging (and inadequate?) infrastructure.

If it's like the WA law, I don't think anyone will even be allowed to buy a new ICE out of state and bring it into the state.

The vehicle makers are telling us they don't wanna make combustion powered vehicles down the road. Ford, the "stalwart" of the common man announced they are laying off thousands of white color employees. Guess which ones they are laying off.

Why is that? There will be used, both ICE and EV. There will be less expensive new EVs as well.

Don't worry, companies from overseas will fill any void of ICE vehicles here in the USA that American manufacturers don't produce as more than 50% or 75% of the states will never ban ICE vehicles.

Ford and Chrysler/Ram/Jeep Dodge have given up in the low income market with their gas products already... The cheapest one they have here is the Ecosport at $28k...
GM has the Spark here at $12.8k for a base model that won't be available... I'm sure there will be a few $22k Sparks available though.
In theory electric vehicles should be cheaper to produce than gas pretty soon, batteries should be getting cheaper every year.

Low income people don't buy new cars. They normally buy the beaters that middle income people sell when they buy new cars, but now those middle income earners will be hanging onto those beaters instead of selling them to low income people.

Those on tight budgets will buy a Dolphin. The BYD Dolphin. Retail is around $15,000
