Last weekend my daughter and I went to Honda World in Westminster to buy the Accord LX 4-cyl.
Her friend knows the dealer owner, he talk to the owner and make appointment for her to see him.
First, he agreed to sell the Accord LX with 3 miles on odometer for Invoice price. The MSRP is $23,545($790 shipping included) and Invoice is $21,828($200 advertisement included), so he discounted about $1,700 from MSRP.
I told him Invoice price is too high and offered $20,500, $1,300 below Invoice and $3,000 below MSRP.
He went down from $21,828 to $21,500 then $21,300 then $21,100 with 2 years free oil changes and said it was the lowest he could go. I told him that he has 4-5% hold back from Honda, so $20,500 is fair price.
He stuck at $21,100 for 3-4 minutes so I went up to 20,600 with 2 years free oil changes and told him we would walk if they don't agree with the offer.
The owner accept the offer with a little trick with paperwork: Selling price is $21,100 plus tax and license then deduct $500 rebate from HMC(Honda Manufacture Corporation), so we paid a little more tax (8% of $500 = $40). I wasn't happy about that $40 extra tax but he said no other way that can done so we accept it. Also, his Finance guy would try to get the HFC(Honda Finance Corporation) special interest of 0.9%.
The total out of the door was $22,5xx. It isn't bad for $2950 below MSRP and $1260 below Invoice.
