BMW B58 Engine Oil Recommendation

After digging deeper in this rabbit hole of finding the right oil for my NA spec 2020 BMW M340i, I still don’t know which oil to use. I’ve had oil consumption issues so I switched to Liqui Moly 5w40 molygen. I’m on a very short OCI @ 2500 miles.

I am catless downpipe with a stage 2 tune and run an ethanol blend. I daily my car and I have short trips to work during the week but drive very spirited on weekends. LA climate.

I’ve heard of people recommending LL04 oils. I am LL01 so I’m not sure if I can use that? I want the best oil for my car. I’ve also heard to use Motul Xcess gen 2 5w40. Price is not really a concern and I don’t mind ordering online.

Thanks
Ethanol blend, go for thick W40 or W50.

Driving spirited with turbo equals oil consumption in many cases. For me thats the only time I actually notice any consumption at all.
Any 5W40 with API SP or Euro spec A3/B4 should be fine.

Makes zero difference at 2.5k OCI.
New software barely counts as tuned imho.
Lol. A “tune” in the racing world is a recalibration of the ECU. I don’t understand what you meant by that. For my car to go from 382 whp to 510 whp with a flash tune and some ethanol what is it then if it’s not a tune?

Tunes are done on a bench or rolling road for your specific setup.
Not with a laptop that loads new software pre-made for all engines. That would be called "optimized software" on this side of the pond.

We call it a dyno tune or a street tune. But thanks for your insight.

What brand should I get? Also, what do you think about Motul 300v ? Or AMSOIL? Even tho I’m tuned, I’m still on stock turbo and stock engine.
Ester based oils don't mix well with alcohol.
Try BAS oils from HPL. They will respond to alcohol well and they are streetable racing oils.

He's referring to Castrol Edge Euro A3/B4 0W-30 which by virtue of carrying LL01 and other Euro approvals must have HTHS >=3.5. This is a datasheet from 2014 you linked and it wasn't even accurate in 2014.
