Didn't know where to put this so here goes.

My question is fairly simple. Are robots or people the ones who fill the liquids (oil, transmission fluid, power steering) on an assembly line?

Are the fluids for motors done before being mated to a transmissionmission? Or are all the fluids for everything done at the end of the assy line?

At GM Plants fluids are filled with a mix of human and robots. Usually the hoses lock onto the car carrier a human hooks up the lines and scans the car. The machine then fills all the fluids. Operator gets green lights then disconnects the hoses. Engines, diffs and transmissions are filled where they are assembled before transport to the general assembly building.

The machine will create a vacuum on the coolant, AC and brake systems then fill to prevent trapped air. Washer fluid gets about 1/3 total capacity. Fuel tank gets about 4 gallons, more for thirsty engines. If the machine fails somehow red lights and alarm sounds and the car gets a no start sign on the windshield.

Thanks for sharing.

Since most all transmissions, at least automatics and CVT, are connected to a transmission cooler, how are these lines hooked up without making a mess, if transmissions are prefilled?

Thanks for the great and interesting info.

The transmissions are filled but since it hasn't been operated yet there is no fluid near the connections. At marriage or soon after little plastic plugs are removed and the lines are connected.
