After spending the last couple weeks looking at cars that were never on her radar,my wife has come full circle and we're back to an Accord EX-L.

We've been in contact with a handful of local dealers trying to find the car she wants. She is being very specific and its proven to be a major hassle.

Accord EX-L sedan
auto,190hp 4 cylinder
navigation
Royal Blue Pearl with grey leather.

According to every dealer we've talked to,this combination doesn't exist in the Pacific NW.

Every Honda dealer I've bought new from seems to be able to see a few months out what they will get, and what other regional dealers will get. I was able to get them to re-route one, but not to order a specific combo like that. You think they'd do what it took to get it done, that's a pretty pricey combo and they have a lot to lose.

I'm not sure if you can factory order anything that's different from what they would normally put on the lot. I'm not completely sure of this, though.

I did go to the honda website and attempt to build an accord like you described. Seems that with the blue exterior it only shows that gray interior is available.

What about this combo can they not get?

The EX-L with Honda Satellite-linked Navigation is its own model on Honda's website. Royal Blue is clearly an available color, and the grey leather interior is the only available interior. It sounds like this is an entire model that your dealers do not have access to, and I'm not sure why not. You aren't requesting any options at all. It's all standard issue for the "EX-L with Honda Satellite-linked Navigation" model.

There is nothing out of the ordinary about the combo, its all available from Honda. The issue is the lack of this particular combo on the dealers lots in the NW. There are lots full of silver, grey, black, and white. EX-L is easy peasy. Royal Blue is slim pickins, and navigation is apparently rare as hens teeth.

I'm surprised they're leaving you with "sorry, you're SOL". I'm sure one'd scare up if they knew you'd walk across the street to the competitor's dealership to buy something else.

You may also consider calling Honda customer service, and just say you'd love to give them some business, but your local dealer can't seem to get what you want. They may have another route for you to take.

We have the navigation unit in our '05 MDX, and I think Honda's nav units are among the better in the business. The newer ones are even higher in resolution, and are a breeze to use.

How bad do you want it?

Personally,I don't want the blue at all. My current truck is dark blue and I've also had black. I'll never do a dark colored vehicle again. They look excellent when they're new,but keeping them looking that way is a PITA.

If it were me,I would have bought the white or silver they have on the lot three weeks ago.

Honestly, it doesn't sound like the Accord is for you to drive.

Buy a couple of one way plane tickets, go buy it, spend a weekend on the Gulf, and then drive it home.

I found it after looking at the inventory of two dealerships.
