After looking at every dealer in 5 different states my wife gave up on the Royal Blue Pearl Accord. The only other color she would consider was white, unfortunately, white is only available with tan interior and neither of us like it.
At that point she was so fed up with the lack of cars available through Honda, she decided she wanted her second choice...a Camry. Ok,finding a blue Camry should be easy enough being that its the number one selling car in America. Wouldn't you know it,not a single Blue Ribbon Pearl Camry with leather available.
Looking through the lot,a white Camry SE with black leather catches her eye. We drive it,she decides it'll work,we start talking money with the sales manager. We settle on numbers that work for both of us,and its a done deal right?... Hardly.
Turns out that car was sold before we got there and they hadn't taken it off the lot yet. We were negotiating on a car that wasn't even available for purchase. After a few choice words for the sales manager we drove back home.
Got up this morning, bought a sunday paper, was having a cup of coffee, and looking through the car ads. The local dealer had the Camry hybrid we drove a couple weeks back as a loss leader.
The had it reduced $5000+ under MSRP. My wife saw that and she wanted to be there when they opened in hopes the car hadn't sold since the ad was printed. Sure enough it was right up by the front door of the dealership and was available.
We took it out for another long test drive to be sure she REALLY liked it. Came back to the dealership, worked out some numbers for our trade (my Wrangler)and drove away in a 2011 Spruce Mica (Forest Green) Camry Hybrid with virtually every option available on a Camry.
I had worked out some numbers on a hybrid a couple weeks back. Her driving habits and usage are PERFECT for getting the most out of a hybrid.
Buying a car is supposed to be fun. I've got to tell you, this experience SUCKED!
It all worked out in the end though. My wife loves the car she ended up with and thats all that matters.
