Another new engine oil line - ARGOS

No thanks, too expensive for what they are. The regular full syn is $28 so i'd rather get supertech fs for $18. Their 15k mile extended performance oils are $32 so i'd rather get Mobil 1 or Castrol EDGE Extended Performance for the same or less. The conventional is a silly $25 and supertech conventional is $16 or 17 so why bother.

So it looks my local store now has it in stock, but it is excluded from any filter bundle deals. I’m guessing they will add it to the filter bundle deals once their stock of FRAM branded oil is depleted. Looks like they have a conventional, high mileage conventional, synthetic, high mileage synthetic, and advanced synthetic, ranging from $25 to $31 for an 5 quart jug. Only the regular synthetic is Dexos approved. By itself, the oil isn’t a great deal, but if they add a free Carquest Premium filter when you buy 5 quarts, I’d buy it.

Argos sounds like a laundry detergent.

Speaking of which, anyone remember when Persil came out? It wasn't there, then it was everywhere.

The STP at AZ has a new re styled theme and the bottle is the same Argos color now ..... both Amalie blended
Noticed that yesterday. Actually bought a bottle of the 10W30 for my generator. Didn’t even make the Argos-bottle color connection. FWIW I think it’s a better looking bottle than the old ones. 🤷‍♂️ I wish they’d restyle the STP XL filters. I hate the gold box and label.

Just checked on the Advance website and it appears that the Argos oil is now eligible for the oil change/free filter bundle deals. I’ll probably give it a shot on one of the family cars before long.

With Fram’s parent company going bankrupt and possibly turning into chapter 7 from chapter 11. I’m sure advanced wants to get away from anything first brands group. So they were able to exit their contract with the bankruptcy.

Depends on the oil. Some of the common stuff goes unavailable from amazon and all you see is 3rd party resellers. Usually the stuff they sell in 5qt containers is competitive with walmart, and they usually sell the cheaper varieties of motul at a competitive price.

Generally if it's a 1qt container yes, it's a little higher.
This has been my experience as well. It is much cheaper for me to order the ATFDW1. Transmission fluid for my wife’s Honda Civic on Amazon then it is to buy it from the dealer, but I have to buy 4 quarts at a time before the cost is worth it.

Looks like the same bottle as Fram oil, interesting.
It's replacing fram.

Fram is now on crazy clearance as of yesterday on non motor oil, $1 for 12oz power steering fluid, $2 for 1qt Gear oil e.t.c. motor oil is cheaper but nothing special.

Just buy it from hondaautomotiveparts where you know it's legit, unlike Amazon.

Advanced Auto has a ARGOS full synthetic and CarQuest Premium bundle for $28. I doubt it’s going to be any worse or better than an STP bundle or O'Reilly's/MicroGard bundle. Seems comparable to others. In fact with Supertech and Fram filters gone from Walmart shelves, it might be the best one stop shop budget oil bundle around.
In no way is that the best budget option when 5qt of full Synthetic is $18 or less, with a filter being $5 or less.

These are apparently the only two filters at my local Walmart that fit my Expedition, and are currently available.

Even worse for the Honda.

$9/12 plus any Supertech oil puts the cost around the same as any auto parts store brand bundle. Nothing wrong with it but Walmart has lost its low cost combo advantage with the loss of Supertech and Fram filters.

I can't remember the last time I even went inside one of these stores, or autozone either. I get parts off of RA and amazon drops oil on my doorstep for way less than they sell it for. The local PepBoys only does repairs now, they closed the retail part of the store completely. I can't see AAP or AZ staying open long term by selling Christmas tree air fresheners and p-nut M&Ms.
Sometimes you need a part today and can't wait
