Just guessing here, but direct injection is generally unable to achieve high RPM's. And, as we all know, RPM=HP in many cases.

I have no idea how much headroom the injectors have and if they can support more HP at all. My guess (and that's all it is) is that larger injectors will be necessary for significant HP increases. And, guessing that will be exceedingly expensive. Direct injectors ain't cheap. And, I'm not at all sure there are larger capacity ones available.

Possible, but I am sure someone will figure it out. They figured out how to get around displacement on demand cams for the LS motor. I am sure it is just a matter of time. It is like any piece of technology. I imagine guys thought the V-8 flathead was going to be the pinnacle of performance.
We sure have come a long way from that.

They upgrade diesel injectors and those things cost some serious cash.

^^^They are a FAR CRY FROM the "leaf springs" of yesterday, and are actually composite wonders now, which work VERY well with that car's suspension.

IF it bothers anyone that much though, there are PLENTY of GREAT aftermarket/racing coilover conversions available in a whole range of price points.

But then they would have to raise the price tag an extra $5000 or $10,000. I'd rather put up with it being not quite as "fancy" and perhaps use lesser quality interior parts or not be perfect in terms of fit and finish, as long as they continue the trend of offering a very well performing car for a very reasonable price.

A great point. I recently helped a friend from Maine buy a Vette and the pricing was extraordinary! That much car under 50k is a relative bargain.

Not every one of us wants a rolling techno show. For some it's a driving experience, and that is very personal.

Why? The car performs on the same level as cars costing thousands more. If GM ditches the leaf springs, is it going to get that much better? If I buy a sports car, I want it to perform. I don't care how.

Not only that, and the pushrods, but did you know the car still has some parts made of metal? They made cars from metal in the 1930s!

I am looking forward to seeing the interior. I have heard they are spending a lot of money on upgrading the interior. Which i thought was the main weakness.
