I know. But SS exceeds API so no worry there.XL is API approved; SS is not.
Also I don't need an API starburst. My 2020 Tundra manual says must meet spec and "some" oils have a starburts. Which means some dont. Amsoil has a warranty and since 1972 not one engine has been destroyed. Not worth paying yearly for a cert when everyone knows its exceeds it.XL is API approved; SS is not.
SS for the win.
Nothing after this postPretty much any of the proper rated oils will allow engine life beyond your ownership of the vehicle.
What are we going to win?
Ummm-my indy has had a couple customers destroy engines when they pushed SSO to 25K WITHOUT UOAs or verifying if the oil/engine could handle it. IIRC they were SBCs or possibly pre-modular Ford V8s? Sludged pretty badly, as I remember. That's why UOA is your friend if you're going to get crazy! Also I don't need an API starburst. Did they make a claim with Amsoil?Ummm-my indy has had a couple customers destroy engines when they pushed SSO to 25K WITHOUT UOAs or verifying if the oil/engine could handle it. No. Amsoils warranty in fine print says you MUST follow Manufacturers oil change.Did they make a claim with Amsoil?

• Failure of equipment due to not following original equipment manufacturer (hereinafter, “OEM”) recommendations for warranty coverage, including lubricants, maintenance and drain intervals, prior to the first installation of AMSOIL lubricants, or any other pre-existing condition or OEM defect unrelated to the use of AMSOIL.
• Failure of equipment when AMSOIL lubricants are not used in strict accordance with either the written recommendations of AMSOIL or the OEM for warranty coverage. The Consumer is solely responsible for determining a product’s merchantability or fitness (“suitability”) for a particular purpose and assumes all risks and liabilities when used other than in strict accordance with either the written recommendations of AMSOIL or the OEM for warranty coverage.
We have our ideas.I have an acquaintance that uses nothing but XL because he is convinced PAO might cause leaks in his older vehicles.
Considering you engine will most likely outlast the chassis and drive train is not the ownership of the vehicle with any off the shelf oil from one of the major producers , why use Amsoil to begin with? I have to ask. With a PC membersip I can get 9 quarts of SS for $11 more than XL. SS comes in a tad over $100 so one saves $9.99 on shipping. Why would one use XL?
Memories can be interesting things. But yes people don't read. Simple gifts nailed it.

I've been with Amsoil 22+ years. Not one sludged engine, if we are being anecdotal.
BITOG always trying talk people out of Amsoil, it's interesting that's for sure. Use what you want.
