All Fram 7317 filters sold out everywhere

Both my Walmarts and both Rural Kings have either the XG or the PH.

I have worked in a Wal-Mart regional distribution center and nobody forgets to order things like this. It is all racked and stacked by computer algorithm. If there is a regional shortage, it is a supply constraint and I guarantee a supplier manager at Wal-Mart in Bentonville is feeling heat on it.
100%. My sister lives in Bentonville and worked both as a buyer for Walmart and then later on for a supplier on the other side of the table.
Walmart knows essentially in real time what's going on inventory in all their stores. Then can tell you by SKU how many per hour per location are going out the door, loss rates, inventory age, all kinds of stuff.

That's how they're able to make billions on a razor thin 3% profit margin.

I was just at my closest Walmart bringing the old CRV for recycle so had to look. This Walmart is smaller and does not even carry Valvoline Restore and Protect by the way.

In any event, no Fram 7317 of any version. No Mobil 1 M1-110A, No Supertech ST6607's.

One thing I have noticed, Rockauto of late seem to get plenty of restock of Champion Laboratories made oil filters without issue. Seems at least that side of the First Brands is still making product.

I received 8x XG7317's, 5x XG9688 and a 6 pk FE3506 today from Walmart, they still owe me 1 each of those plus another 6 pk. They must've started delivering in my area, they literally sent 3 different drivers out today to make those deliveries and FedEx brought the 6 pk.

What are the corresponding model numbers for the O’Reilly and MicroGard alternatives?
The following filters cross over to the Fram 7317 filters. Double check you application by looking up your specific vehicle on their filter look-up.

At Advance Auto Parts ... Carquest Premium: 84356

At O'Reilly's ... MicroGard Select: MSL57356

At AutoZone ... STP Extended Life: S7317XL

You really have to watch Walmart pricing, I just visited there and bought the last 3x FE3506, 2x XG9688, and 2x PH9688, and those were $9.24 which is highway robbery.... I'm thinking orange can certainly only $6-$7 and the Tough Guards were $9.48. I'm not really one to return items but the website has it for $6.99, of all things the 6 pk does list that price so that's most likely how it was encoded into their system. The $4.50 that I should've saved isn't really worth the time going back there. I don't really use those filters but they work great for a quick change or a flush. Walmart still hasn't shipped the other filters that were ordered, most likely in a few days they will cancel because they can't fufill that part of the order.

They only had a few of the 7317 in Tough Guard and Extra Guard, Ultra and Endurance slots were still empty. They didn't even have many of the 9688 other than what I was able to get, for only .24 more cents I would've just bought those others instead. I typically don't use the Tough Guards as the Ultra is only slightly more expensive and is a much better filter.

I guess I'll just have to start scanning the items using the app on my phone to verify if the price is correct.

It is not like it was 10+ years ago when most SKU's for FRAM oil filters at Walmart had levelized pricing across most of their filters. Walmart does not play price games unless their wholesale cost to them has gone up as they work on a 3%-4% average profit model.

As much as Walmart beats their suppliers down for bare bones wholesale cost, there is some legacy brands like FRAM that has and can fight back on that strategy as Walmart needs that brand recognition just as much to bring in the foot traffic. It is not by accident that Milk is in the back of the store in one corner and oil filters in the opposite back corner from the front doors.

This thread to me though is surprising in how many people still covet having access to FRAM filters.

All those prices are higher than walmarts here in SC. Most orange cans are $4.12, most silver cans are $7.12, and most gold cans are $8.97. Cartridge models are about $1 more.

Yes I've noticed the 9688's are always more expensive when compared to others within the same line-up. Around here the pricing definitely seems off. I think Walmart and Amazon must watch each other closely, their pricing is about the same, you can purchase a 2pk of the PH9688 for $6.99 per filter which is what Walmart has on their website. The Ultra's run $8.97-$10.97 depending on the filter.

Fram shows the 3593a for my Honda but the 9688 has superseded it, basically the same as the 6607/7317 just a different case size. The 6607 is still widely available, I believe someone mentioned that most of the jobber filters used are this size.

My Kawasaki also takes these filters, I either go with the OEM or the PH6017a but crosses to the 6607/7317 depending if you have room for the longer filter or not since the exhaust is in the way.

On a sidenote, FedEx delivered the other 6 pk of FE3506 today and Walmart still has not shipped the remaining of the previous order which was the XG9688 and XG7317. I'm going to try and visit another store tomorrow to check their stock. The only issues I have ordering with Walmart is that they will automatically change the shipping to delivery. A lot of the filter boxes I received yesterday were torn, falling apart or even taped back shut. I did inspect them to make sure it was the correct filter and that everything seemed fine. These are the ones I typically leave alone on the shelf unless I'm desperate and it's the only available option.

All of the FE6607, and FE3506 that were shipped from their warehouse did not have these issues. Since I already have a lifetime supply of filters I'll probably switch over to the "Ford" one since we have some tractors that use it.

I still have practically a whole case left of the Honda A01 filters which were basically the holy grail for the Honda crowd.

I didn't realize the 9688 superceded the 3593a, but that explains why no one stocks the 3593a anymore! In that case, Supertech ST9688 would be my choice at $3.84.

Of course, I have about 10 Honda sized filters (Carquest, STP, Ecogard, etc) in my cabinet so I won't need to worry for a few years...
