2025 Ford Maverick - New Changes

If people didn't go crazy and run to the dealers every 10 minutes to buy a new car, inventory would pile up and discounts would start. Take a new F150 stickers at $65,000, can be had for $14,000 off sticker before talking in person. So with little work, $17k off sticker. Less than $51,000otd. That's not terrible for something that's not a penalty base box.

Ok question. Who makes the hybrid drivetrain.

My ex had a 2008 escape hybrid and everything about it looked acted, shared the same design as the Toyota version. I really thought it was made by Toyota. Dealership said ford designed and made it themselves, but they “licensed” it through Toyota since it was so similar and they didn’t want to get sued. I wasn’t sure what the real truth was.

Toyota hybrid AWD is simply an electric motor on the rear axle, like a large RC car. If ford’s is the same, I’m going to have more questions if this is really a ford system.

Oh and to that end, the 08 escape hybrid was a wonderful vehicle, very well executed. And since this is bitog - she was protective over this car and it only got dealer oil!
Ford licenses a bunch of Toyota tech:

My Son has a 23 model Hybrid. I showed him this thread and he is going to order a new 4x4 hybrid. He went online and priced out a build at 34k. Told me he was going for it. He said that was the only way he would trade his in if they made a 4x4 hybrid model. He's been very happy with his so far. He waited over a year for it.

Its not 4x4. It's actually AWD because it lacks low range. The AWD systems are good for inclinant weather but not much else, they usually are fluid coupled that overheat. A 4x4 with low range isn't going to overheat the tcase or axles.

that was the original MSRP for the initial 2023 base model ( hybrid, fwd, minimal bells and whistles, and steelies, you know they model they almost never ACTUALLY build)
That's exactly the model we want for our business. We'd take another half-dozen or so if only they'd make them available! I think we've received only two of them so far.

Are there any projections indicating a base model XL hybrid (or any XL) availability will improve anytime soon?

I'm NEVER paying greater than MSRP for any vehicle.

Spot on, spot on.

LOL. He started it. All I did was post a link in #22 that said Ford licensed Toyota tech to answer someone’s very specific question and he got but hurt and claims its opposite.

If either of you actually have proof Toyota gets help from Ford on hybrid tech post it up because the internet says they don’t but I would be interested to know.

Essentially Ford bought Toyotas Hybrid design from them. Why would they do this? Saves them a ton of R & R money and it's a proven and reliable design. Toyota does not manufacture the system for Ford. Ford manufactures their own system based on the Toyota design and may incorporate changes to the design as they see fit for their purposes. It's the same concept as the joint Ford/GM designed ten speed auto transmission. The GM built version of this transmission seems to be more reliable and better integrated than the Ford version does. Same design, GM does a better job of manufacturing and integrating it into the vehicles that use it.

The Car Care Nut has a review of the Maverick

At about the 4 minute mark he mentions that Toyota licensed some hybrid
technology from Toyota, but not all of it. Ford designed the rest on this vehicle.

"All the 2025 Ford Maverick's improvements come with slightly higher pricing. For instance, the base XL trim now starts at $27,890, an increase of $2375 compared with last year's model. The XLT hybrid starts at $30,390, the AWD EcoBoost Lariat starts at $37,130, and the AWD Lariat hybrid starts at $38,330. The new Tremor model sits at the top of the lineup and starts at $41,390. Order books for the new Maverick open on August 1, with deliveries expected to begin later this year."
Bummer the tremor model doesn't get the 7.3 liter like the F-150/250 tremor.

Hybrid / AWD / 4K tow is going to be the bulk seller I bet ... I want one

I was watching a youtube review (can't remember who) and the reviewer pointed out that the engine makes more torque than the transmission is rated for . ..
One YouTube interview said it is also an emissions issue to cause the decrease.
