Details for the 2025 Ford Maverick have been released. Optional AWD for the hybrid now, making the towing capacity 4K pounds. Also push-to-start standard for XLT trim, and a new larger screen standard.

Prices though… Ouch.

Edit: The Order Guide with all build specs was on Ford’s link in the media article, but it looks like they removed it. Luckily I still had a tab open with it and saved it as a PDF. See below link, I have it uploaded to Google Drive (Can’t upload PDFs here)

"All the 2025 Ford Maverick's improvements come with slightly higher pricing. For instance, the base XL trim now starts at $27,890, an increase of $2375 compared with last year's model. The XLT hybrid starts at $30,390, the AWD EcoBoost Lariat starts at $37,130, and the AWD Lariat hybrid starts at $38,330. The new Tremor model sits at the top of the lineup and starts at $41,390. Order books for the new Maverick open on August 1, with deliveries expected to begin later this year."

Hybrid / AWD / 4K tow is going to be the bulk seller I bet ... I want one

I wonder if they decreased the horsepower on the 2.0T due to transmission issues.

Just not that long ago I saw a Maverick on Ford's website starting at $19,995... How in the world did the starting price increase so much in such a short amount of time?... That's just straight up 🐂💩.
I was watching a youtube review (can't remember who) and the reviewer pointed out that the engine makes more torque than the transmission is rated for . ..

The price was so good they couldn't meet the demand for them. So to bring down the demand they jacked up the price. Those prices are near mid-size prices. Not the bargain they used to be. It's the way things always work. Just look at certain Toyota Hybrid prices.

that was the original MSRP for the initial 2023 base model ( hybrid, fwd, minimal bells and whistles, and steelies, you know they model they almost never ACTUALLY build) then told people if you actually want to receive your truck, and not be on a huge backlog, order the Non Hybrid version.

For 24, they made the non-Hybrid ( 2.0T) the Standard Engine, and the Hybrid cost extra.

remember, this is a Ford Parts bin car, Utilizing much of the Escape's equipment with different sheet metal... but built in Hermosillo, MX, -Where all of Ford's Hybrid Powertrains have been made, and the Fusion was built- instead of Louisville. ( Where Escapes are/were Built)
( My C-max for example, Engine trans from Hermosillo, car assembled in Wayne,MI)

About the towing capacity. Our company supplies wheel hub units to the automotive and light truck industry. All too often, the manufacturer wanted to increase towing capacity for their vehicle, usually to beat the competition. Our engineers needed to redesign the hub units to handle the extra stress, all without making the bearing bigger. They couldn't give us more room to make the bearings bigger. Not a very welcome challenge for our company.

"CLARIFICATION 7/31/24: This story has been updated to state the Maverick's turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine now makes 238 horsepower versus its previous 250-hp output."

To keep temps down for towing the higher rating?

Got rid of the push button controls and make you use the screen for all controls. 👎. Still only blue interior which looks like dog poo with half the exterior colors.

Ford, no thanks.
I'd consider a Toyota Stout, the Platinum edition, lockers front and rear 400hp twin turbo, on 35's. It better not be cheaper than $50,000. I don't want a cheapo base box. I want the BRODOZER model.

That’s what happens when it’s the only product you have that anyone wants.

Too bad, now there is nothing affordable again, and how much you want to bet the price will rise until it kills sales

At $19 I would have bought but with used 3 yr old Mavs being above original MSRP no sale.

There is no Stout till 2028, it was announced a couple days ago.

How many $19,995 Mavericks were actually built do you think? How many were sold back then without $5k ADP or more?
90% of deliveries during that egregiously slow 15 months of Initial ramp up were customer preorders. Ford pretty much banned markups on preorders period, so +5k didn’t happen and if it did you could ***** to corp and the dealer could lose allocations.

Very few dealer stock trucks occurred until over a year out and no dealer stock hybrid was sent until 15 months in.

Ford eventually canceled and didn’t build 90% of hybrid orders.

Ignoring trim Ford could have sold 10x more hybrids the first couple years but demand dropped dramatically recently

All of my comments can be validated off publicly posted insider info found in the Mav forums

Ok question. Who makes the hybrid drivetrain.

My ex had a 2008 escape hybrid and everything about it looked acted, shared the same design as the Toyota version. I really thought it was made by Toyota. Dealership said ford designed and made it themselves, but they “licensed” it through Toyota since it was so similar and they didn’t want to get sued. I wasn’t sure what the real truth was.

Toyota hybrid AWD is simply an electric motor on the rear axle, like a large RC car. If ford’s is the same, I’m going to have more questions if this is really a ford system.

Oh and to that end, the 08 escape hybrid was a wonderful vehicle, very well executed. And since this is bitog - she was protective over this car and it only got dealer oil!
