Can't always go by can size. I've seen filters that have what looks like a bigger can, but when the filter was cut open and the media area is actually measured, it tells a different story.

I don't disagree, but I also don't see how your statement is relevant to what I said. Maybe we had a miscommunication.
I said and meant I think the NG filter in video and NG 1334 have same type construction (even though sizes). Same type pink silicone valve and gasket, same type filtration material (though amount of filtration material may differ due to different size filter), same thick metal can.
i.e. - same design, though amount of filtration material probably differs because filter physical size differs.
Sure it has the same construction - no disagreement there. But this stems back to post 53 when I asked how do you know that NG 1334 has more media area. Then you pointed me to a WCW video to show which had the more media, but he was comparing a different NG filter model, not the NG 1334 you were referencing. Then I said you can't always go by the can size to judge total media area. So the main focus is on total media area, regardless if the construction is similar or not.
I got fooled when thinking one PureOne model had more media area because the can looked bigger, but when I measured the media area on both, the can that looked like it would have more media actually had less. So that's why I made the comment about you can't always trust the can size. In your case, both the NGs and the MGS have plenty of media area IMO, even if one has a bit more than the other. And also if the media isn't exactly the same in all those filters, then comparing media area doesn't mean a lot. A media can perform the same or better and still have less total area, because the exact design of the media also matters.

The video suggests to me that when comparing a NG and MS of corresponding size and cross ref part #, the NG is likely to have more filter media and thicker can. I can't guarantee that holds true for all filter sizes, but I think it's likely.
I did verify for sure that the NG 1334 (for Hyundai 1.8L) has a thicker can and finer filtration than OEM/Mann filter for Hyundai 1.8L.
It could be based on assumptions. But the NG 1334 is a half inch shorter (per NAPA's website) than the NG 100290 that WCW measured. So guess one could then conclude that the NG 1134 will have less media than the NG 100290 you referenced as having more media than the MicroGard Select MSL57060 in the WCW video. Need an actual media area measurement on a NG 1134 to know for sure.
OP: did you find a longer filter for your Hyundai?

I think you still don't understand what I said or the points I was trying to make.
The NAPA Gold 1334 is the NG filter for 2011 Hyundai Elantra 1.8L. The corresponding Microgard Select filter is MSL51334 for 2011 Hyundai Elantra 1.8K.
The Napa Gold filter in the video is not for Hyundai 1.8L. I don't know what vehicle it's for. The vehicle isn't relevant. What is relevant is the NG & MS filters in the video are for the same vehicle (whatever that vehicle is). That makes comparing those 2 filters to each other relevant for comparing design of NG to MS.
At no time have I ever compared the filter size or amount of media of NG 100290 to NG 1333. They're for different vehicles.
What I was saying is NG 100290 has more filter media than MS MSL57060 as shown in the video. Those 2 filters are for the same unknown vehicle.
So it's likely the NG 1334 has more filter media than MS MSL51334. Those 2 filters are for Hyundai Elantra 1.8L.
I'm going to disengage from discussing this further because there's nothing more I can say.

^^^ Got ya ... but it's still an assumption (or maybe call it a loose theory) that comparing the NG 1334 to the corresponding MGS will reap more media like the NG 100290 did against the corresponding MGS in the WCW video - you'd need to see the actual media area measurements between the two. It could be true based on the assumption, and it also couldn't be. And as mentioned earlier, if the media isn't exactly the same (which I bet they aren't between NG and MGS), then that skews the whole comparing total media area aspect. Comparing total media area between two different medias is like trying to rank different oil filters based on the number of pleats or by how much they weigh.
