Truck has 341,xxx miles, Engine was replaced with a Ford Reman at about 220,000 miles. I did the replacement about 8 years ago. Has the updated 9 bolt Valve Cover Heads but still has the 2 piece spark plugs......But all the plugs came out without any drama (Needed Plugs& Coils) as it had a Sharp Misfire with the Torque Converter Locked.
Oil & Filter changed using a Motorcraft Filter & SuperTech Synthetic 5w30, Advised the owner to change the oil more often as the engine looked a little rough on the inside.
Left bank Cam was showing 43° advanced but the Cylinder Contribution was very good at idle at +/-1, That told me that the left cam couldn't have been at 43° & the right cam at 6°.
The Cam Sensor Tone wheel had sheared the roll pins that locate it to the Cam Gear & rotated causing a false Cam Position reading.
If you have a 3V 5.4L/4.6L with P0022, P0021, P0018, P0016, P0012, or P0011, Check the Tone Wheel location in relation to the Cam Gear before going off the deep end with Ford Pinpoint Testing
There are 3 spokes in a tight grouping.....The center one needs to line up with the L mark on the Cam Gear.
The Locating Pin in the Gear was loose & the Gear itself was cracked, Thankfully the Cam wasn't hurt & the new Phaser fit well. The Phaser Bolt seemed to be torqued down correctly which is odd as a loose bolt could have caused all this????
