Wow, I never thought I'd see this thread again. I ended up selling that car to a friend, fully disclosing what happened, he is still daily driving it with no obvious ill effects, and no concern of future issues. Of course, I sold it to him for what amounted to a few months of his other car payment. Last time I talked to him he had put a bit over 15K miles on it.
