All Good Things Must Come to An End (Havoline PRO DS $29.66)

Did not see this posted yet, but while at Wally World I see where Havoline Pro-DS is no longer $22.97 but now $29.66 Ouch! I got lucky because they did not change the shelf label for the 0w20 and 5w20, but just the 5w-30. But the 0w-20 did scan at $29.66, but they let me have it for $22.97.

2019 thru 2021 GM Half Ton's. Two Axle Suppliers.

Just wanted to share some information I found out on my ’21 Silverado front and rear axles. Seem like for at least 2019 thru 2021 for GMC and Chevy half tons, there were two differential axle manufacturers. AAM (American Axle Manufacturing) and GM. AAM axles were supplier A RPO SU4 front axle...

Who knew there so many automotive fuse types?

Adding a fuse tap to my 2021 Silverado for a new accessory. I had plenty of fuses on hand from prior purchases. But they were not the correct type. Even with the internet it was difficult to figure out what type was currently in the under hood fuse block. I did not take one out for reference so...

    2021 Mazda 3 2.5 Temperature Gauge Reading

Take a look at the temperature gauge on my sons 2021 Mazda 3 2.5 (non turbo). This was after a 25 minute drive into town with the outside temp around 40 degrees. The air from the heater was coming out hot/normal for full heat. My son tells me when the outside temperature is warmer the temp...

    Spring Assist Shocks?

Anyone have any comments about spring assisted shocks? I did see ACDelco does offer these for Silverado 1500 trucks. I tow a trailer that's only around 5,000 lbs and there is a slight un leveling towards the rear. Figured these might be fine while towing, but may make the ride harsh when...

    USA Gasoline vs European

Remember reading a few threads postulating that gasoline in Europe contains less sulfur than what we get here in the USA. But from what I can gather online the Euro5/6 and Tier 3 in the US are now the same at GF6 oils here in the USA are for the most part mid SAPS oils similar to C3 Euro oils...

Is An Engine Cover (VW Tsi) Beneficial?

Just performed an OC on my 2021 Jetta Tsi 1.4 and noticed the plastic engine cover is missing? I don't remember taking it off in the past. Did not see it in my shop? I did have the vehicle at the dealer a few months back for a ecm flash and can't imagine them needing to remove it? Anyhow, do...

Valvoline: What friction modifier/anti wear agent

I've read sodium, but then again some say sodium is mainly a detergent but does have some properties as a anti wear. I ask because I have one remaining quart of Valvoline and the rest of what I have is Castrol. The Castrol is the titanium stuff. I'd like to use that last quart for the next OC...

    Dexos2 M1 0w-40 ESP in C7 Corvettes

Posted this on another thread and wanted to discuss more: As a side note I find it interesting that for the C7 Corvettes with LT1 & LT4 GASOLINE engines, the factory fill and and recommended oil was Dexos2 M1 0w-40 ESP (Emissions Systems Protection), a .8% sulfated ash engine oil. Not sure if...

What ACEA Sequence best mimics Dexos1

Which ACEA sequence, either high saps A5/B5, A7/B7 or the low/mid saps seq C5/C6 would be more similar to a Dexos1 Gen2 say in a 0w20 weight? To put it another way if an application called for a Dexos1 Gen2 0w-20 spec oil, which ACEA category: A/B: Gasoline and Diesel Engine Oils – “High SAPS”...

    2021 Silverado/Sierra Engine 5.3L

I may, I repeat may buy a 2021 Chevy Trail Boss. The one I am looking at has a build date of 02/2021. I do believe this truck has NO DFM (Dynamic Fuel Management) system working due to the chip issue. And that's 100% fine by me. What has me a little skittish is this preliminary bulletin...

M1 ESP 0w-30 ACEA C3 with no OEM mentions

Have a case of 6 of Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 that could be three years old. The label states it's ACEA C3, however there is no manufactures approvals or certifications? I've seen oils that have only one manufactures certification, VW508 for example, but this I've not seen before. Any theories why this...

    Take 5 Oil Change

The town where I live if opening up a Take 5 Oil Change Service. The concept is you stay in your car and they perform the service in 10 minutes. What I found disturbing is the small footprint of the facility. When you exit the bays you have to make an 180 degree, yes a 180 in what's probably a...

Advance, Autozone, O'Reilly, NAPA - Your Favorite

Let's not turn this into a bashing thread. Just asking if given a choice which of the Big 4 do you normally shop? For me, NAPA usually has the best selection of Euro oils, so I normally pick up oil there when they have their monthly specials. When I was growing up NAPA was almost the only...

Die Hard Group Size H6 - Made in China?

My 91 year old dad called me this past Saturday, said his truck would not start. Had him try it again and it just clicked. A 2016 Canyon with the V6. I'm sure this has been addressed before, but Amazon website (sold and shipped by Amazon) shows the PF53 in this style: But shipped this: The one with a paper clip for reference of the opening around the base plate is an ecore model, which is fine for me. What I've not seen before is that...
