    Nissan Matic-K in '96 Lexus

Yeah, Char Baby, it calls for DexIII, and I think I've read that the Matic-K was proprietary but very near the DexIII(H) spec. It only drains 2.5 quarts, so I think I'll try it. I'll report back after I have a chance to drive it.

    Nissan Matic-K in '96 Lexus

Have four quarts of Matic-K that I was thinking about using in my daughter's ES300 when I do the next drain and refill. What say ye?

Did I fall asleep here? $9 per quart?

I was shocked to see that Pennzoil Platinum had gone from $18.75 to $24.97 per 5L jug at my local Wally World. Also regular M1 was $26.48, but the extended performance was still $26.

    Update on Kumho Solus KR-21's

Forgive me for being blunt. I wouldn't buy another Kumho tire if it left me stranded in the middle of nowhere. They are complete junk. My daughter's KR21s were all out of round with less than 12,000 miles on them. Thank goodness for Ken at Fairhope Tire, who replaced them without any questions...

    .44 Ruger Redhawks?

Like Bill, I put a better grip on mine right after I got it. It's a double-handful, but it shoots well. I've shot both Rugers and Smith and Wessons, and I really can't tell any difference in quality.

    Kuhmo Solus kr21?

Cross-post alert! This is also on the Tire Cracks thread. Be careful with the Kumhos. My tire man quit selling them completely after they stiffed him on a bunch of 40,000-mile (actually, now that I've read the thread I think it was the 80K mile warranty) tires that didn't even last 20K. Also...

    Tire cracks!

Be careful with the Kumhos. My tire man quit selling them completely after they stiffed him on a bunch of 40,000-mile tires that didn't even last 20K. Also, Kumho doesn't seem to be able to produce four tires in a row that are actually round. One always is out of round. Obviously, I'll never buy...

    Stand by generator lube.

If it were mine, I'd use German Castrol 0w-30. Robust, but still flows well.

    question on drive noise

Don't know about the tufftorq, but the hydros on my Scag zero-turn whine most of the time. Supposed to be normal for the Hydro-Gear ZTs.

    Castrol GTX vs PYB

Can't say much about PYB, but I put 467,000 miles on a F150 with 5.0 engine using GTX almost exclusively. I might add a quart or two of Syntec if I planned to pull my bay boat a lot during the hot summer. But it was GTX most of the time with 3K OCIs. Electrical gremlins finally forced me to...

    Consumer Reports reviews car waxes...

I'm with you Carbuff. The Wax-As-U-Dry products are easy to use. In fact, I use it almost every time I wash my wife's BMW because it's so easy. Therefore, I think the more frequent applications offset the difference in testing.

Total Classic 5W30 For BMW 335I, and Audi A6 3.2

While you may be able to "get away" with using an SM oil with short OCIs in a normally aspirated BMW like my wife's 530i, you will regret, if you keep the car long enough, not using an A3/B3 LL01 oil in the 535i with its oil-stressing turbo.

    More questions.

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/posts/1231006/ Filter should be the same for the Platinum. Part # 696854 I'm using the Motorcraft FL-400, although I had to add some padded tape to one of the throttle cables that was touching the filter because of its length.

Maxlife ATF or stick with Toy T-IV?

Maxlife for daughters' 96 Lexus and 99 Volvo, as well as mom's 02 Highlander. Nearest Toyota place wants $8 a quart for T-IV. The heck with T-IV.
