I stopped using NuFinish because it smelled like a toxic waste dump during application.

You'd think I'd be used to that, being from NJ and all!

I have to disagree with CU about the Wax-As-You-Dry-Products. They may not last as long, but they are soooo easy to apply, I do it more often (about every 4 - 6 weeks). That's all I've been using for 4,5 years.

I'm with you Carbuff. The Wax-As-U-Dry products are easy to use. In fact, I use it almost every time I wash my wife's BMW because it's so easy. Therefore, I think the more frequent applications offset the difference in testing.

NuFinish....reasonably priced...excellent shine....and one of the most durable.

Been using it for 20 years....and completely satisfied.

Used NuFinish decades ago, Presently like Dura Gloss 101 polish/cleaner. Available at CARQUEST about $8.00. The less you use the better. Goes on easy, comes off easy with no powder, residue or smell. Get about 4 full waxes from a bottle and they give you an application pad. I passed getting a lot of free after rebate car wax since I'm so happy with the product I have.

I always took their anything CR had to say with a grain of salt. I'll take Collinite 476 and 845 over New Finish any day.

If you visit different detailing forums you will see that almost no one mentions Nu Finish---it isn't popular at all. Now we have to ask ourselves why? It is a good product that can last a long time but many prefer the glow of other sealants and waxes that also don't stain trim. Collinite is a very popular wax and Duragloss a very popular sealant. Both of these will give you between 4 months to 12 months of protection and don't stain trim and are very inexpensive.

I don't care so much about the shine. For me its more important for the wax to last and protect. With that said, I found collinite 476 and nufinish equally good.

Drawbacks: Collinite is more difficult to remove and nufinish highlights deeper scratches and rock chips. Both of them stain trim.

Different waxes have different characteristics. Longevity may not be one for all of them but people who buy the boutique stuff normally wax more than once a year or every six months so it's not really an issue for that market.

What seems to be universal on the other hand is ease of application, which in my experience NuFnish doesn't have. One of my favorite sealants is Four Star UPP. It doen't bead beyond three months, but I love the slickness and the warm, wet, glossy look it produces which isn't typical of sealants. My favorite paste wax is Autoglym HD. It just makes the metallic flakes in my paint pop like no other. So sometimes, people value more than longevity.

To me Nu-Finish is the easiest when it comes to application.

Meguire's gold class car wash followed by 3 coats of Meguire's gold class liquid wax. Looks stunning!

Who has time for 3 coats? It take me 8 hours to do one coat. The is doing in all the door jams, trunk and under the hood. I'be be waxing for 2 or 3 days and even then the Meguires will be shot in under 2 or 3 months and will need to be reaplied. NuFinish will protect a full year with one coat. Might not shine as good but it is far more durable.

The 476 is a bit tougher to apply than Nu Finish or Collinite 845. What I found works very well, for anyone interested in a 2 coat job, is a coat of 476, then 845 on top. I gave it a week between coats and boy does it last.

I'm trying out the same thing (476 topped with 845) on my truck. Finished going over it with ultimate compound and ultimate polish over last weekend. I'll have to post some pics when I finally get done.

I can say that giving time between coats of the 476 (more than 24 hours) makes the 845 come off super easy. And, the 845 is easy to apply, being such a light liquid. There's just something about a paste wax though!
