I was thinking about getting the same tire for ours. Haven't decided which route we're going to go. Firestone/Tires Plus has Primewell Valera 50k or might up size to 235/75's and Sam's has Dunlop for $110. If you want to save a little money look at the 235/75's if you have the 16's. Otherwise the 225/70(?)15's you can find alot of good choices without alot of cash.

I had these on a Taurus and I loved them. In my opinion they are the best bang-for-buck A/S out there. For an A/S they did great commuting through a Chicago winter. They also wore very well and were quiet and stable at high speeds (hypothetically speaking, of course). They were FAR superior to the Goodyear Triple-Treads I had next. I just wish they made them in the size I need for the E34.

EDIT: Btw, what part of CA are you in? I'm not sure if snow/ice traction means anything to your usage. They were good in the rain too.

Well, since this KR-21 tire subject has been brought up again(since June), I will add that in our circle of family/friends, those whom are using the KR-21's, only the vehicles of heavy weight(SUV/MiniVans) are experiencing faster ware compared to others that have lighter vehicles(small sedans) but, the tires are still going strong in all counts.

I will again mention that this KR-21 tire is/was a high recomendation on my part but, many "new" tires have eclipsed the KR-21's in terms of performance and longevity in the "Ratings & Reviews". And too, IF the KR-21's can be purchaced at a decent price compared to another brand, they still can be a very good "Bang for the Buck" tire!

People need to do the math on this tire should it not last the test of time. Those using the KR-21's have mentioned that even though it didn't last long, it performed well all the way to the end. I have had tires like this in my past...Wore fast(25K) but were great all the way there!

I've seen a lot of claims of not only the KR21s, but also other Kumho model tires not lasting their rated mileage. Mine lasted 83K. Of course I run mine with an extra 5 PSI of pressure, so this probably helps with tire life.

When it came time to replace the 21s I was looking at the 22s however, Kumho, like a lot of other manufacturers when they start becoming more popular, have raised the prices on thier tires to the point to where they aren't the value they once were. Hyundai and Kia have done this with their vehicles lately as well (maybe this is a Korean thing). Comparing prices I found that I could use a manufacturer's rebate, and a store rebate (Discount Tire) that allowed me to get a set of Michelin Destinys at the time for less money than I would've had to pay for the Kumhos. Going with the Michelins was a no brainer.

If Kumho would go back to their old pricing instead of letting greed take them over, they would still be the value they once were. As it is now, you can probably find a better tire for less money with a little shopping around...

The KR-21 is a very good low cost tire for your *average* car.

I bought a set for my wife's Accord and I like them, they are very quite compared to the BFG tires that were replaced.

We don't have snow or ice in Florida, but the KR-21 tires are great in the rain and have lots of grip.

Cross-post alert! This is also on the Tire Cracks thread. Be careful with the Kumhos. My tire man quit selling them completely after they stiffed him on a bunch of 40,000-mile (actually, now that I've read the thread I think it was the 80K mile warranty) tires that didn't even last 20K. Also, Kumho doesn't seem to be able to produce four tires in a row that are actually round. One always is out of round. Obviously, I'll never buy another Kumho, even for my utility trailer.
