I have a wide variety of (woodworking) tools from different manufacturers, but it seems that overall the Festool dust extractors are the best, with Fein being a close second. Does anyone own a Festool extractor and have thoughts or opinions? I may pull the trigger next time Im in DE (sorry, Delaware, home of tax free shopping).

Festool stuff is nice. Too rich for my budget.

Why don't you fire off a private message on Twitter to Tom Silva at This Old House and ask if he's got a festool extractor. He's got a lot of festool stuff that he's always using on the show.

Festool has seen quite the rise here in the US over the past decades. Their tools keep showing up on many shows. Might expensive though. I wonder how many of those guys pay for them?

I own a small Fein I bought used long ago for a song. Incredibly quiet and powerful. It never sees any rough duty though: indoors & car interior. The larger Ridgid gets the water, garage floor, sucking dirt out or holes, "dirty" work.
