Well that's the thing. Youtube wants me to pay for premium so I don't see ads, but it's not like they are going to stop stealing my data for profits if I sign up for that.

Do you really think they are after our boring old folks data, Mainly they focus on folks under 50. The scammers focus on us oldies.

I don't know about a Mac computer but it definitely works on iPhone and iPad. It has blocked 11,000 trackers and adds for me this month. Over 1,400 just on YouTube.

All Apple products contain builtin blockers for tracking. Apple Devices also prevent "cross tracking" which denies apps you are not using from seeing data from other apps. This is more recent in the last year or so, costing Facebook BILLIONS of dollars in lost ad revenue.

I suspect this app you and others use is simply using the information supplied by the Apple Device which in itself is blocking all types of nasty tracking and its all free with the device.
WIth that said, Apple devices do not block all ads.
This is what your Apple Privacy Report looks like on a Mac Desktop. If time I will post the iPhone one too. Keep in mind I routinely delete my cookies and history or the numbers would be MUCH higher.

Watch YouTube using Brave Browser. It's filters out the YouTube ads even without an adblocker add on. This is why streaming devices don't allow you to install a browser.

There is a script for Tampermonkey that prevents the YT popups.
You actually see the ads for a split second though.

Now I downloaded FreeTube and enjoy my ad-less YT that way.
You can even import all your favorite channels. It's actually pretty good, and it's free..

I'm 33, but they harvest data on everyone regardless of age. The popup makes me laugh because they claim the ads are all about supporting creators and the platform while they are the ones making billions in revenue.

I have adblocker extensions on Safari and Chrome and don't get any nastgrams from Youtube about them. There are some websites that won't let me in unless I disable them.

On my work computer I can't install any extensions, so youtube is....challenging.

I’m not worrying about tracking, as I know the reality.

My point was that YouTube offers their Premium service which doesn’t have adds. But they will still monetize the data they collect regardless if I pay for their premium service or not. I’m the product for them either way.

That’s not a big enough incentive to me when I can block their adds for free.

I don't seem to get hit with too many ads on the stuff I watch, most videos have none? I do tend to just close youtube if I get too many ads, so maybe they notice? Also some of my watching is on an ancient chromecast, which maybe helps? I never seem to get extended ads on that?
I am kind of surprised that a bunch of creators haven't made a youtube competitor yet. Call it Freetube?(I see that name has been used on an app to use youtube without ads! )
I'm trying not to kill as much time passively watching on a screen at home, so a couple ads is my cue to do something else!

My guess is that big name content creators are well paid by YouTube. You hear horror stories, at the end of the day, if the content creators were not making money they would not have so many big name content creators. Doug DeMuro probably makes a fortune for YT but Doug is doing just fine too. Jody at Just One More Watch makes a very good living from his videos. Plus it has given him an avenue to launch his own line of watches, similar to Mark at Long Island watches and there are many more. If you get 30K views per video you will do fine on YouTube I really use the YouTube Music Premium. Better catalog and better interface than Amazon Music Unlimited which is now $10 a month. Personally I didn't diligently save for 35 years to skimp on everything in life and look for free sources. I dropped cable because I just was not watching enough to pay $61 a month for Sling to watch reruns loaded with commercials.

Got an email from a HiFi sales site about some headphones on a special sale. I went to the companies site and ordered them. Next time I check FB there is an ad for another brand of headphones. Must be gmail?? I use Safari.

The only thing that is now working for me (for Chrome in Windows) is to open a New Incognito Window (inside the three dots), then...
1. In a new Incognito window, go to chrome://extensions.
2. Find the extension that you want to use in Incognito mode.
3. Click Details.
4. Turn on Allow in Incognito, and then enable the extension.
Do this for uBlock, Adblock, and any other extension that you want to use in an Incognito Window.
When you view a YouTube in an Incognito Window the ads will be gone, for now.

Try dropping chrome and using firefox or anything not controlled by google. All the reports I'm seeing so far is that the popups are happening in chrome, and firefox + ublock/adblock still works fine.

DO you log out of Facebook when you are done with it or do you just close the browser?
Not sure if it matters but I log out of everything including BITOG. For all you know the info came from this site.
