This new YouTube RED. YouTube RED is YouTube’s new subscription service. For $9.99 a month, subscribers are given ad-free access to YouTube, access to Google Play Music, and other incentives.

So many of my artist on my favorite playlist are now BLOCKED in the U.S. GREAT!

Yeah I know I can get around it quite easily... for now. YouTube is squarely to blame here. They are harming a situation that was working perfectly fine in an effort to make more money. It’s their company, I get that. But what will happen as YouTube RED rolls out worldwide and more and more people find that the content they like is no longer available? Can I say GREED?

If they start applying global blocks to companies that don't sign off on YouTube Red, then that means that *anyone* who utilizes content from these companies will be actively punished by YouTube for doing so. And keep in mind that 2 global blocks puts your account in *bad standing* (possibly that means your account could be in danger of termination if you keep getting global blocks, but I've never dealt with this situation: so I'm not sure).

So this effects users and not just viewers, hopefully Google realize the dangers of applying global blocks and do not do that. Because if they did, that could mean many creators and viewers would straight up stop using the platform due to it being far more frustrating than it's worth.

Half my playlist are blocked when accessed straight from youtube site... [censored] I even signed up to YouTube for the sole REASON to get around an adult content block...crazy.

Google chrome plus adblock extension= youtube vids with no adds.

I could care less about the other things.

All about squeezing out more money/profit today...

I'm sure this has a lot to do with the record companies, but $9.99/mo for Google Play Music + YouTube Red is a deal! I signed up when they first launched Music, so I am grandfathered in at $7.99/mo so I am really thrilled with Red.
 
If they make it too expensive people will fall away from it and start going to the next free video hosting site. It is an endless cycle.
Watch it happen.

Wait...I'm confused. How is a paid subscription service harming the content providers? Do the content providers have to pay $10/month to keep their videos on YouTube? Who is getting blocked and why? Why is adding a premium ad-free option a bad thing? You can still fire up your computer or app and watch any YouTube video for free but have to watch an ad before or during, right?

I believe nothing has changed content wise, you either pay by watching commercials or buying a subscription.

What are you guys talking about? 5 years ago all the music videos started appearing, a major plus in my book.

Someone like GHT can still upload all his car repair videos...

That is NOT the record companies problem, basically Artisans work was uploaded on YouTube...and YouTube was making profit off the ads, not the Artist or the Record companies, I'm talking international labels, that cannot be on YouTubeRed.

This is a YouTube problem, many official channels have blocked content now, and NOT offering it on "Red". Meaning NOT offering to U.S. market at all. Crazy.

I just don't get the issue. Maybe I don't need to. It seems to me that any artists have their "vevo" channels which are hd official channels with music videos. Some artists also have official stuff but not vevo.

Is the issue here that one will need to start paying ,$10/mo to get that stuff,?

You have to understand ads are there to support the content creators. Google now seeing it now as a viable business, they also want that piece of the pie. Greed man.

Content creators are withdrawing there content because for each subscriber to youtube red, they will not gain as much money from because they won't get the advertising dollars. youtube is going a direction of offering a service to the public where you can avoid advertising, and you pay for the ad free content. they are still going to have the current advertiser content so the consumer is getting the same content as before, it's just the revenue streams are shifting more to the service provider rather than the content provider. is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Thinking of this business wise this is a bad idea for Japan/Kpop youtube channels to be region blocked because now they wont get the world views and sales, only limiting themselves. There are people like me that will listen and watch videos on youtube, discover new talent and groups and it will be where if I buy things because of that. For example I bought Albums for Exist Trace, Bump of Chicken, and Hatsune Miku just because of these channels they are limiting.

These blocks will limit my new discovery of good music, such as Goose House and other talents yet to be found.

Not sure how you guys can listen to music on YouTube... The sound quality sucks, it sounds muffled and different. Unless you're just listening on a phone or cheapo computer speakers, I guess it doesn't matter then.
