How you like it so far? I ran GC in my 04 V6 Grand Am, and it made the cold piston slap all but disappear. Engine ran smooth, but, slight mpg loss. Anyway, just was curious as to what you thought about it

Im a sucker for OEM oils like Toyota Genuine and Motorcraft, even Harley 360. I know its overpriced but it gives me a false feeling of protection that other oils Ive tried dont.

Well, I ran Mobil1 from 15K to 100K and like most others' experience w/Mobil1, the engine ran noisey with it. However, looking through the fill hole, the engine looked brand new on the inside. I don't believe the noise in my engine is piston slap. It sounds like loud rockers or something.

During my Auto-RX cycle at 100K, I used SuperTech 5w30 for the clean phase and Havoline 5w30 for the rinse phase.

With that said, I didn't notice a huge difference going from the Havoline to the GC. However, GC does seem to be running somewhat quieter than the Mobil1. I don't think it's a huge difference, but overall, I do like how the engine runs. Although, some of that could be related to the fact that I just completed an Auto-RX cycle.

Right now I'm using an oversized PureOne filter. I previously used a AC Delco PF52 with the Mobil1 and then a few oversized WIX filters during the last few OCI's of Mobil1. I'm getting some start-up noise with the PureOne filter. Even though they are great filters, I think I'll go back to the oversized WIX filters just because they are quieter at startup.

I started out with 37 quarts of GC and I plan on using all of them for the next ~80K miles (4.5 qt. sump, 10K OCI's).

Overall, I like the GC. I think though, I built it up to much and expected a little more from it. But when I send in my first 10K UOA, we'll see how it truely performed!

One thing for sure though, after doing a 100K tune-up, doing Auto-RX, and now running GC, my engine runs like the day I bought it. It runs GREAT and I expect it to run another 100K+ miles.

Oh, by the way, I'm tracking my gas mileage. I have all my receipts in my middle console of my car. One of these days I'll get around to inputing them into my gas mileage spreadsheet on my PC. Hopefully, my mileage doesn't go down too much with the GC.

I did 1 5K OCI with M1 5w-30 (SL) when I first got my GA. Can't say I fell in love the noise

. So I dumped it ASAP when I heard all the good things about GC, and I mean, what a night and day difference it made in my engine. I think the reason it wasn't as huge of a deal for you was because you switched from Havoline to GC. I've heard Hav can quiet things down too, but I bet you would have seen a bigger change from M1 to GC.

My car still has piston slap, but only for about 5 seconds when it's cold (no more GC, it's got Superflo in it now). Otherwise it's fairly quiet, except for the usual rockers like you said.

Yep, that's exactly my thought also!

1 Valvoline maxlife
2 Valvoline AC
3 Havoline....It sounds like valvoline

I didnt see too many people voting for valvoline so I will. Ive used it and love it, and for the few pennies more I think its a great oil.
