Yaris vs. Accent..

I agree 110% on the automatic comment.

I drive a lot of rental cars. It gives a bad feel, as you get the stripped, abused vehicles, but it is also good, as you get a worst case scenario.

For small cars, the Yaris is far and away my favorite one. Ill take a yaris rental over an accent, which Ive had, as well as a civic, corolla, cobalt, etc.

I rarely get bigger rentals...

The yaris does what it is told, the seats are more comfortable, the setup is logical, and overall it is a winner. I had a yaris and a civic all across CA, and wrote a review of them last fall.

Personally, Id go with a yaris sedan MT. Great little car.

2010 YARIS will be better with the Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control as a standard feature . Wonder if CONSUMER REPORTS will decide to RECOMMEND the YARIS then .

As for the automatic in the YARIS , it doesn't suffer all that much . Probably around 2 miles to the gallon less than a standard . The clutch is quirky when starting out in 1st and reverse . The sedan seems to get little better mileage compared to the hatchback . Aerodynamics ?

I thought i'd chime in with an update here. I just cracked 3600 miles on the odometer in the month that I have owned mine. MPG has ranged from 34 to 42. The 42 came on a trip to upstate New York two weeks ago cruising at around 70. First oil change is coming up this weekend. Also, I bought a TRD rear sway bar and springs are on the way to tighten up the handling.
