Why do cabin AF's get WAY dirtier than engine AF's

I don't know how much air my 80mm case fan's move (not a whole lot), but I'd bet one of our engines at high idle pushes about as much air..

I paid $19.99 + tax for a NAPA Gold cabin air filter for my friend's Corolla.

In this thread one of the guys is cutting up a nice furnace filter to size to take the place of the cabin air filter and to save some $$$.
