Nothing bad at all dude.
Strange. When I click on those links I see a lot of people whose experiences are very similar to mine.Had a quick look into these. Couldn't see any real issues there. Short threads started by someone asking if it's normal that he has to top-up half a quart after 10000 mls. Sorry, I can't take that for serious.
Virtually all manufacturers have an absurdly high allowable oil consumption spec. You can cling to the spec and argue that it's normal, but there's nothing normal about modern low-mileage non-performance engines like mine and the ones in those links needing a topping off within their OCI.Again, your A4 did not suffer from any oil use that can be called "excessive" or "abnormal". 100 ml for 1000 km is pretty normal across the industry and that wasn't even measured in a controlled environment. Please notice I'm not talking about "spec". In the past Audi used to say up to 1 l/1000 km is "within spec". However that's a completely different number than what you think is "abnormal". Actually you were very far from that number.

You seem to think that disagreeing with you means that I'm ignoring your posts. I don't care what the spec says. I had to add oil between OCIs on an engine with fewer than 30k miles. That's not acceptable. That's not normal. It shouldn't be normalized. I'm honestly not sure why you're so insecure about the fact that people other than myself have also had to do this.Again, you obviously completely ignore what I was saying. I did explicitly state that I don't refer to those
"manfacturer specs". I agree that they're absurd. Your oil consumption has been a tenth of what they used
to say would be acceptable. Honestly, I'd suggest you read my previous posts again.

You saying it’s not normal does not make it a fact. Having to add a drop of oil every now and then with no proof of how the car has been driven, then stating this is not normal is not normal! I deal With people like this every day saying things like “ my friend says this is not normal/ is covered by the warranty“ or my friend who is a BMW technician says blah blah blah”You seem to think that disagreeing with you means that I'm ignoring your posts. You saying that it is normal doesn't make it a fact either. When compared against other engines I've owned or have personally used the one in my A4 was the only one that needed to be topped off. All driven under similar conditions. My personal experience. You saying it’s not normal does not make it a fact. No offense, man, but you're a guy on the internet. Just like me.I can say that as fact though. I am backed by the manufacturer who designed and built the engine. Who are you backed by? Your mate on another forum complaining they had to put 100ml of oil in aver 2000 miles.
Difference is I’m not pushing incorrect information that could cause someone reading it to think they have something wrong and go into the dealer complaining because they are worried.

So bottom line the answer is “nothing.”
So again the bottom line and answer to the OP's question is "nothing."
Look, it's obvious that we disagree on this but we're not attacking each other or anything. There's no reason to not be civil here. I do respect where you're coming from but my ownership experience has been different from yours and I think that's fine.Admitted, I like this answer.![]()
I really don't know why certain engines are the way that they are. A friend of mine has an early MK7 GTI with an APR stage 1 tune on it. That car gets driven angry all the time and probably sees redline every other traffic light. It's been beaten on from day 1 and that engine burns no measurable oil. And by not measurable I mean the electronic oil level reads full from the time he fills it to around 7500 mi when he changes it. I believe he's up to almost 60k mi now and that engine's been more or less perfect.Patience and respect are key. I still wish I was able to convince you to a certain extent.
