Hello I have purchased a 2023 Audi A4 Quattro turbo engine, I’m trying to do the first oil change, I have not found a oil drain plug but my my mechanic that works for me says he has saw it on the web,I looked up a YouTube video and it said to suck the oil out of the engine with a suction pump device, so any help would be appreciated
I have a oil filter from O’REILLYS, I have several containers of synthetic oil here not sure of the weight I live in Kentucky, I have ordered the oil drain plug and a tool from Amazon, has any buddy that does oil changes on these, and the car has no dipstick which I think is ridiculous

It's a B9 with EA888.3 2.0 like all other ones in VAG vehicles except mount longitudinally. Should be straightforward. Plastic drain plug. Filter on top. Didn't know the Audis didn't have dip sticks on this engine. Have you gotten under it for a proper look around? The oil pan is black plastic right? Drain plug blends in because it's black plastic as well/need to remove with a special tool or just a large flat blade screw driver. Unless I'm wildly mistaken here?

TiGeo is correct for the EA888.

And use an oil with the proper VW/Audi approval. Ignore grade and the "several containers of synthetic oil" there unless they have the approval.

It's this plastic one that must be replaced every time.

You can see in my signatures that I have two VWs. I change my oil every 5000 miles and use a new filter each time. I strongly recommend this practice to you. And with the turbo (GDI??) I only would use 91 octane or higher.

Yes boomer, we run 93 octane in the car it was suggested at the dealer it was bought used but 7000 mile car

TiGeo this is what I purchased the tool and the drain plugs
I have looked and looked and I have not saw no dipstick, I think it researches it on the dashboard screen
We are not ASE certified mechanics, but we are very very good at servicing and fixing stuff here at my shop
Thank you for the video, I have never saw the dipstick in the video you posted, I see there place where you put the oil

kschachn thank you for the oil recommendation, I will have to research this, like I said I have gallons and gallons of synthetic oil in various weight and synthetic, but nothing in German models

I use an oil extractor for my 2018 A4 and 2019 Q5. There is a plug in front of engine in place of dipstick. If you go that route I can shoot a picture of mine, it should be the same for you. It eliminates removing shield and crawling under car. I HIGHLY recommend

Your oil choice should be based on approval, not grade.
That A4 is probably recommended with VW508.00/509.00 which comes only in 0W20 flavor. If you have warranty, use that approval! Not any 0W20. In Wal Mart you can find Mobil1 ESP X2 0W20 that has that approval and it is same price as any 0W20.
Personally, I would run it on VW504.00/507.00 which comes only in two flavors: 0W30 (available in Wal Mart, Mobil1 ESP 0W30) or 5W30 grade.

As for dipstick, Audi has sealed tube, but it should be there. There is a plug on top of tube where dipstick should go. Last time I checked, dipstick was going on for around $20 on various web sites.

Mightyvac works well for extraction. If filter is up top, you don't need to get under the car at all. When I had my S3 the dealer told me that they extract.

On my '22 A4 I have found an extractor leaves about 1 liter in the pan. Can't get the tube to go any farther down.

The drain plug does use a specialized tool to remove but they can be found online for cheap. I have also reused the plug multiple times without issue going back to our previous 2018. The biggest pain is removing the like 17 screws to drop the splash shield. But it's still good practice anyway even if you could suction all the oil out as these cars collect quite a bit of road sand in the bumper and splash shield.

Also, these engines were designed for 5W-40 502 spec oils, switched over to 5W-30 504 spec in 2018, and are now calling for 0W-20 508 spec. I personally run Redline 5W-30 Euro as it has one of the lowest Noack's, won't leave deposits, and meets all the good specs (including SP for less LSPI, although these engines are not known for it.) Below is a VOA I had run on the latest SP formulation about a year ago.
Ravenol VMP from Blauparts is also a great 504 oil, although it's not SP rated and has quite a bit of Calcium (ran that exclusively in my 2018 without issue though.) I would also feel confident with HPL Euro PCMO 5W-30 but haven't tried it myself yet.
I am not worried these thicker oils will cause any warranty concerns, even with true 508 oils having a detection marker in them. These are great vehicles (0-60 in 5 sec, all wheel drive, and 33mpg on the highway) but have always been ~160k mile cars, and that was with the better oils. I am not running 0w-20 in an 137 hp/L TGDI engine...

Yes, but he's talking about on the inside bit, I don't think I've ever heard of the locking bits breaking....the part you stick the tool in yes if you don't use the correct tool.
No me neither. I just assumed he meant the internals on the plug as being the “cam”.

Thank you I’m currently looking online for a dipstick and it is quite confusing. I don’t know to put my VIN number in to get the right model. Can anybody help?
