As far as the oil plug,I’m sure they can be reused but it quite inexpensive to change these
Just buy them from FCP and they'll be free eventually, absolutely no reason to reuse them.As far as the oil plug,I’m sure they can be reused but it quite inexpensive to change these
Yeah, on my Passat, i reused the plug quite a few times before switching it out. It's just the o-ring on that drain plug that is what you are replacing in reality...not sure "must" is the best term..."should".
Apparently this is scandalousYeah, on my Passat, i reused the plug quite a few times before switching it out.
here i am buying them in bulk from china like a suckerApparently this is scandalous![]()
I too have an aftermarket pan...the Üro Al one so just crush washers now for the mag drain plug and it still gets a weep at the plug...here i am buying them in bulk from china like a sucker
(i've had an aftermarket oil pan for 2+ years, i just buy m14 copper washers in bulk from china instead)
draining it removes more of the old stuff.Suck it out from the top, no issues with the drain plug.
i have the uro steel one with a mk6 gasket. if it leaks i'm putting an OEM plastic one back on.I too have an aftermarket pan...the Üro Al one so just crush washers now for the mag drain plug and it still gets a weep at the plug...
Your work bench has a nice patina on it. Must have been a lot of work to get it that way.
Going on 20 years here. Lots of work and stuff spilled on it.Your work bench has a nice patina on it. Must have been a lot of work to get it that way.![]()
The Al one is nice because it uses a factory gasket vs. RTV. Threaded drain plug gets a weep that I can't seem to get rid of. May try heavy duty Teflon tape next change.draining it removes more of the old stuff.

A fine choice.I dropped the factory fill 0w-20 and am using 0w-30 504 spec in my mk8 gti and will sleep easy
