Which of of these are going to be more friendly towards my 1.5 Turbo in the Civic? I see that the AFE is labeled with the SN Plus logo whereas the EP is not?

M1 EP 0w20 is SN+, and dexos1 Gen2.
All other weights may not be. The pdf file on the mobiloil.com website shows just the 0w20.
SN+ means it passes the LSPI test that uses a Ford ecoboost engine.
dexos1 Gen2 means it passes another LSPI test procedure using a GM turbo-DI engine.

Really any oil that has low calcium and low sodium will likey be fine in a turbo-DI engine. For example, I noticed the other day that Rotella T6 Multi-vehicle 5w30 has low Ca and Na, so OK to use even with no SN+ or dexos1 certifications.

Both are SN+ dexos Gen2 and have been since 2010. The difference I was told was the AFE has slightly different friction modification. EP 0w20 is also 70% PAO vs 30% PAO for AFE.

Advanced Fuel Economy.

If one looks closer they will discover it is really regular Mobil 1 but in the lighter grades. M1 EP has the predominant PAO base and is good for longer oci.

Either will run fine but for the extra few dollars the EP is a great choice, especially in a turbo GDI engine.

Thanks!
Was thinking about running M1 AFE in the Civic in my signature especially for winter as this engine requires ONLY 0W20 and nothing else.

The Altima in my signature commends 0W20 but allows for conventional or synthetic 5W30/10W30 but strangely not 5W20. Doesn't say not to use 5W20 but, doesn't list it either. Hmmm!

Nissan probably discourages conventional 5W20 in the Civic - thus failed to even mention 5W20. I'm guessing full synthetic-only 5W20 would be fine, being it's graded between 0W20 and 5W30.

Contact Nissan and/or the dealer for clarification.

You will probably only get a scripted answer that will only say what you know already without answer your real question.

Humour aside, for most people's usage patterns, that's the most accurate answer, too.

The manual for the 18 Civic also makes no mention of other acceptable grades other than 0W20.....
