Honda (Petro Canada Supreme) bottle 0w20 vs M1 0w30 AFE

Wife’s Civic 1.5T 6 speed hatch

190,000KM. Change oil every 50% on maint minder - roughly 6000-8000km depending if summer or winter.

Currently running Honda bottled 0w20. Was debating doing same OCI and using the m1 AFE 0w30… thoughts?

Here’s the last UOA (was M1 EP and then the Honda stuff.. the first test seen was a lot of shorter trips in colder conditions)

At that oci length, it doesn’t matter one bit imo. You can safely extend a lot further based on the data. Sure, there’s suspect fuel dilution but the wear metals show there’s no/minimal effect

I don't see any good reason to use the 0w-30 AFE vs what these results show using a 0w-20 but it shouldn't hurt anything either if that's what you wanted to try.

You could switch to 0w-30 and me being me I would but this 1.5 is wearing very good as is with the 20 so it's up to you.

The detrimental effects of fuel dilution aren’t reflected in “wear metals”.

New AP rated M1 0w40?

You are better served switching to the 0w40, versus-that of your 6.84cst@100 Petro UOA above for only 4000km.... approx 2500 miles.

Ended up grabbing some 0w30 AFE M1, Will run it for 6000KM and send a sample out to see. Feel better sheering from a 30 to a 20 vs a 20 to a 8 or 16 lol
