What Repairs Are Needed On Your Car?

I am sure that many of us have cars that are currently in need of repairs.

But for whatever reason, whether it is time, laziness, financial, etc, you haven't done them.

So let's share. What repairs does your car need?

Mine (Saturn):

- two halfshafts (was replacing mounts today and noticed that the axles had play)

- lower transmission mount

- front brake calipers (front brakes get hot after a short drive)

- water pump (possibly)

- alignment
- rear rotors
- new hatch and front fenders (rust, yay)
- possible new carrier bearings in the front diff.

My DD doesn't need any repairs. My wife's needs an alignment and tires, if that counts, which it'll be getting soon.

Our suburban needs:
- Ball joints
- Intake gasket repair (probably)
- Fuel pressure regulator (probably)
- Regular maintenance like trans and brake fluid flushes, maybe a coolant flush, diff oil change (front and rear).

But it doesn't get driven much so most of this has been put off for a while.

Mine (cavalier): Either O2 or Cat
-A/C compressor and accumulator
-Driver window motor or something is making it move very slowly, and thunk when going down, close to the bottom

Expedition: Front blower motor rattles pretty bad for the first 5 to 10 minutes.
-first fan speed in the front doesn't work except on highway/at highway speed

Jeep: Transmission.

Mustang: Nothing

Rear wheel cylinders/shoes/hardware (one cylinder is wet, not leaking)
Rocker panels/rust repair
Rustproofing

Fiancee's Fit:

Zilch. It's up to date.

Just kidding. I need to replace the battery with one of the proper size so I can put the holder for it back in. Also, I should check the engine mount.

The Montana keeps popping a code for EGR. Ive tried cleaning it and tricking the computer into resetting but it obviously needs a new one. One of the fittings for the trans cooler I added is also seeping very slightly. It will make a bigger mess fixing it than just letting it seep. Ill fix it next time I change the transmission fluid. It also likes to leak coolant from the top hose which Ive been attempting to fix but have failed so far.

Escape - I think front brakes and possible AC tlc.

Festiva - rear tires balanced or replaced, probable rear drivers wheel bearing, cat and exhaust manifold, probably oil pan gasket, and ac fixed. The only one that will get done is wheels and ac it doesn't get drove that much.

Just did today:

- Both rear LCAs & inner bushings
- One rear LCA outer bushing
- Rear camber bolts & hardware


Still to do, hopefully tomorrow:

- The other rear LCA outer bushing
- All four dampers (rebuilt Bilstein Sports)
- Alignment


To do at some point afterward:

- Alternator
- Engine oil change (RLI 0w-30, OEM filter)
- Wash, clay bar, polish, touch-up, wax, etc...

Volvo needs rear hatch shocks, not fun in the winter but enough gas in them to work in the summer! I use a maple food paddle to prop the hatch in the winter;

Driver door has factory defect failed stop detent clacker. I guess one of these days.

Odyssey needs cabin filter change again. Have the filter, just need to hire The Critic to do it.

Accord. [censored] somethings gonna snap on that sucker soon. I need to take the EGR thingie ma hookie off and clean the orifices. But I just put like too many man hours into that car. Finally got it on synthetic though.

'00 Integra, (high mileage):
-Needs a cat
-Brake warning light comes on sometimes when cold but the brakes are fine, reservoir is full...Bad pressure switch, I think.

'07 Tacoma:
-OK

'69 VW camper:
-Rear, inner springplate bushings
-A few rust blisters under windshield seal
-New window seals all around
-Turn signal switch pops out of latch mode sometimes
-Due for valve adjustment
-Pretty much could use painted...paint is old and gets chalky

1990 4Runner - R134a conversion and repair. It's been broken for some 15 years. Possible rear main leak that's going on and off with various oils.

2003 F250 - clutch whine from last clutch job. Irritating but grabs better somehow. Better radio w/ CD player.

2001 Tundra - surface rust near 3rd brake light. Might as well fix it now before it bubbles. Possible airbox leak. Found light dirt in intake tract. I'm running an AFE Pro Dry S and mostly driving on dirt roads.

The only thing on my list is a new AC compressor on my 81 240D, as it has never been opened up (system still tight), and the clutch stopped working.

I don't leave things in need of being done, and if there are undiscovered items, well, I need to discover and address...

Celica maybe a valve cover gasket, and driver side cv axle might be going bad

new rotors and brake pads up front. vibration when braking at high speed.

Nissan Navara, nothing of import.
- paint on the fibreglass canopy is shedding.
- bonnet support rod clip is broken.
- clip on the centre glovebox cup holder has been snapped of by children's feet.

E30, what's not wrong, it's a beater.
- wires going everywhere from a former owner/stereo nut. They are all red, which is handy.
- heater blower motor inactive.
- blue smoke on over-run.
- Rear seat is still magenta.
- Driver's door handle (interior) broken, make a new surround out of sheet steel, and needs some refinement.
- Electrical leaks when parked for days, so currently disconnecting battery every night, as 11 min commute doesn't seem to charge it enough.
