You're one of the few people I know who almost "has to" go to the XOM distributor to get enough oil for an oil change.

They wouldn't order me the Delvac 1 SHC 5W40 (free of shipping to Alaska) unless I ordered 11X5gal =55gal, enough for 6-7 changes.

I have the same engine and the same consumption. Guess it's not just me

Going to change the valve cover gasket this weekend if I have time, see if it changes matters. I'd be very interested to know how the Kreen works out for you.

Used to be 1 quart every 3,000 miles on this older Civic, but things have really calmed down lately 4,500 miles into this current OCI.

It's probably down to 1Q/4,000 miles right now at least or better. Surprising, actually. Does this mean repeated cleansing efforts finally have oil control rings working better? Still driving the same, routes and habits. The new clutch doesn't allow over-revving in low speed/gear conditions since December and I'm also using MoS2 for the 2nd consecutive OCI.

Rear main seal was replaced with the clutch job, but it wasn't leaking at the time anyway.

Very pleased with Ultra so far, can't wait to get a used oil analysis done. It'll probably be around 7,500. It was free anyway, and I just got this engine cleaner after all.

my '02 bmw x5 3.0 with 150,000 miles uses 1 qt every 1500 miles. in 12000 miles the reccomended service interval I am replacing 8 qts between changes. there are no leaks. By now the valve seals are probably leaking. Believe it or not 1 qt in 1,000 miles is within the allowed tolerence for this engine. anyway, my indie mechanic says just change the filter every 6,000 miles and never change the oil. I guess he has a point but, I couldn't do that.

So lets review, 8 quarts added at oci plus 8 qts added between oci= 16 qts. or 1 qt every 750 mile of service, acknowleging that the drain is 8 qts at the end of the oci. it uses 16 qts every 12,000 miles. wierd when you look at it that way. 16x7.50= $120 that's a lot.

That's pretty bad. BMW certainly dropped a ball somehow on these M54 engines. I've read quite a few reports of them consuming oil, some more than others. Mine is not as bad yet (uses about 1qt per 5K miles now), but I'm only at 80K miles right now and the consumption seems to be slowly increasing. By the time I hit 150K miles, it may be as bad as yours...

92 Camry seeping burning a quart in about 1500-2000 miles
2000 Buick 3.8L a quart in 7500 miles
97 3000 GT VR4, no noticeable change in 5000 miles

The 2.0T FSI in my GTI did 1.5qt/5k on Syntec 5w-40, 1qt/5k on Motul X-Cess 8100 5w-40, and ~.75qt/5k on Redline 5w-40. The 1.6L Ti-VCT in my new Fiesta doesn't seem to have lost any Redline 5w-20 in the 2.5k its been in (with under 3k total miles). The 2.0L MZR/Duratec in my wife's Mazda3 doesn't seem to lose a noticeable amount of Mobil 1 5w-20 in 5k miles either.

Zero consumption on a 2006 F150 5.4l with 65k miles. OCI every 5k miles with either Pennzoil Ultra or Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w20.

Mileage? Has it gotten worse over time? Im at 82k. I will make a thread for all 1zz owners to read regarding kreen and this engine. Just need to wait until close to the end of my oci (another 6 months).

See, I knew it! It seems a lot like my experience of trying to buy compressor lube from them, as mentioned in another thread. It's no problem, as long as I buy a 55 gallon drum of it.

145,000 miles. It's been about the same since I got it at ~80k, sometimes a bit higher or lower. Worst was ~3000mi/qt w/ 20% MMO but it makes sense that would burn off quicker.

1 quart every 500 miles in my old chevy truck with 388K miles on it. Surprisingly, it does not leak a drop and I actually never see it smoke on start up or otherwise but its an oil eater! It does not get driven much anymore and had a pretty hard life in its early years so I cant complain.
