What is your quart per mile total consumption?

I was wondering if any of you ever calculated this. By putting in larger volume filters, my 1996 Avalon will average 7 quarts per 6000 miles, oil changes included. So the engine itself appears in pretty good shape. There is not much room for stuff like MMO unless that is added as part of the fill when I change the oil. Oil consumption will pick up toward the end of the oil's useful life. I have been running blends of dino oil and synthetic as of late. How about you?

My 96 Grand Cherokee consumes about half a quart during a 5k OCI, however my 94 Grand consumes about two quarts during the same time.

2003 Nissan diesel, 7litres in the sump. A little over half a litre per 10,000km OCI. 1997 Caprice, 4.3 litres in the sump. Don't see movement in 5,000-6,000km.

No consumption between changes? Too many to list! I only have one van that still uses oil, probably about 1/2 quart in 1000 miles or so. But that 1000 miles also includes many many hours of stationary operation at 1500-1700 rpm. We will Kreen it this year and see if that kills the consumption as it did with our old notorious oil burner.

My 93 Aerostar is currently using about a qt of oil every 3000 miles. It uses no oil until about 2000 miles into the OCI then starts consuming it. It has been this way for a few years now. It currently has 202,000 miles of severe service use.

My big body mercury uses noneor atleast none that I can tell at 53k. The wifes impala i usually have to top off maybe with a a 1/4 quartish in a 5k oil change.

Same for me on the last 7 vehicles. Not a one has used a measurable amount over 5K OCI's. My current vehicle is brand new( 5 weeks +/- )so it is too early to tell but I do not expect to use any in it either.

C'mon people, OP asked for Quarts/Mile not quarts per oil change! grin Wrangler: .0003 (1.5 quarts for 5000 miles) GC: 0 (Uses none) Dodge: unknown so far

No measurable consumption on either of our current cars. The only cars I've owned that consumed a measurable amount of oil were my two Cadillacs, and both would consume about a quart every 4,000 miles. So I guess that's 0.00025 quarts per mile.

Are you saying you have to ADD 7 quarts over a 6,000 mile OCI, in addition to the 5 or 6 quarts you filled DURING the oil change?

You didn't even bother to break that down to L/kM for our Canadian friends... how awful of you Canada

My 02 Camry consumes a 1/2 quart in the first 1500 miles. After that, nothing for the remainder of the 7k OCI. Makes me wonder if there's a sweet spot on cars they like to run at. I stopped topping off. its either that or its stopping once the oil gets dark.

2007 Grand Marquis zero in a 5Kmi OCI 1998 Grand Marquis roughly a quart in 5-6Kmi 2003 Mercury Marauder, dunno maybe a quart in 3K mi.. The added Supercharger no doubt contributes to blowby that is picked up by the PCV system... (all three have between 44K & 47K mi with the '07 out in front by a K mile, but the '98 is catching up fast) 1993 F-150 Lighting approx 2K per quart, as just north of 125Kmi...

I don't see oil consumption as a bad thing. The only issue is that oil is about four to five times more expensive than the same volume of gasoline, at least in the USA.

No, Jason. the Avalon will be filled and the original 6 quarts will be down to five at the 4500 mile mark or so. Then I add another quart. So it is using about one quart extra every 6000 miles. MMO will tend to burn off faster, I notice.
