What happens if you change the breakin oil early?

Myth Buster: I drained the factory fill on my 2004 Civic at 1500 miles. And M1 5W-30 went in. Running 6K OCI's. Currently have 37K miles. It doesn't use a drop of oil between changes. So apparently the engine broke in just fine with an early (1500 mile) change over to synthetic.

It'll blow up and we'll all be killed.

Yea absolutely nothing.

Have some fun and filter that break-in oil. I had these large white conical shaped filters like coffee filters to lay in the oil pan when you drain the oil.

You would be suprised at the results, I know we were. Sometime enough metals patricles to fill a teaspoon.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

Sometimes I wonder if Honda wants the special oil left in there to combat the inevitable particles that arise during breakin. Using that logic, a couple of early oil changes would seem to accomplish the same thing as leaving the magic oil in there. Just more costly/effort/waste oil.
