What are you eating right now?

The sweetheart next door just brought over pizza again. Different pizza than last, she must be on a pizza kick.

I'm REALLY looking forward to next week. Daughter stopped yesterday to get my water bath canner. Says she will have a bunch of tomatoes ready next week and wants to can some.

Going to bring me a couple fresh ones. First BLT of the year, here we come! :D

Seriously nice if someone brought me chow dang

Trying to get LDL down along with weight. We went to bed two hours ago and she woke me up; she screamed "Chocolate Cake" in her sleep and I think she's dreaming but I wish I would have recorded it for a laugh 🤣

I know, unsolicited advice. Well, fatty fish, fatty fish, and more fatty fish. When using oil, use EVOO. Eat walnuts, almonds, flax, seeds, chia seeds. Supplement 2,000 mg phytosterols with meals per day. Reduce saturated fat intake to less than 15 g per day. Cut carbs as carbs drive up LDL. 30 minutes of vigorous exercise per day. Obviously, remain in a caloric deficit. Try to limit meals to two per day, a launch, and an early dinner. try to not eat for >14 hours. Include sleep into the fasting period to make it easier. Otherwise, you won't get your metabolism into fat-burning mode and you will struggle.

Most of all before you do anything, get your Lipoprotein A* and B* checked by your doc. If you have drawn the genetic short straw with high Lipo A and B, diet and exercise will likely not get you into the desired LDL range. You could try red rice yeast, 600 mg per day, a natural statin. It is often tolerated better than synthesized statins that may have brutal side effects. All recommendations should be discussed with a dietician or at least with a nutritionist. The above is merely what I would do if my LDL numbers were too high.

*Sadly, these are still not standard cholesterol test! Definitely worth having them done, though.

It was hot today and my wife is a relentless crossfitter. I do as the boss says. Now I'm worn out and like a pregnant woman, I have strange food cravings. Sardines and capers. So delicious. Salty goodness - I must be low on electrolytes or something. I even slurped the brine.

now before you eat that candy bar I just want you to be aware of that you could either eat the candy bar or you can have four Budweiser Select 55
Thinking I could get a better buzz from the Theobromine in the chocolate than the beer. Could not drink Bud Select 55 so no buzz there.
Theobromine is an alkaloid (an organic compound containing nitrogen), belonging to the everyday chemistry of the plant world. It's also found in varying amounts in tea, coffee and the kola nut, though chocolate is the richest known source.

Just as a footnote for dog owners, theobromine is toxic to dogs and that's why dogs must not eat chocolate. While even a small pooch can tolerate a little piece without falling ill, a larger quantity can become deadly. I once had to wrest a 2-lbs chocolate bar from Cuddle's mouth. He's a big boy and weighs 240 lbs and he gets very defensive about food. Had he eaten all that chocolate, and I have no doubt he was going to do so, he'd have gotten seriously ill.

"Cuddles, let go off the delivery guy!"

No aches, muscle-related side effects, or elevated blood sugar from this statin?? LDL still high?

Another footnote: In those who have muscle-related issues from statins, the supplementation of CoQ10 may help mitigate the CoQ10 deficiency that is often caused by statins.

After eating this piece I have one more left for later today. My wife has two pieces left because she has greater self-control than I do, and I'm pretty disciplined.
