After nice 2 mile walk down and then up mountain; some ice water, and some tuna steaks from Aldi. Salad of hearts of romaine, spinach, tomato, black olives and goat cheese.
 
I had a taste. Blueberry-blackberry. A shot of amaretto added to the filling imparted a subtle almond flavor. For years I have been using amaretto instead of almond extract. Before shoving this pie into the oven I brushed the top with a mixture of butter and a little vanilla bean paste. The trifecta of berry, almond, and vanilla flavors complements the buttery taste of the rough puff.

Went to the Dutch Bakery in Tipton MO yesterday. Bought lunch meat called Dutch Loaf, no chicken and a short ingredients list. Amish Potato and Macaroni Salad with a long ingredients list. Also a Dutch Deluxe Sandwich, which is over 3/4 lb of meat, turkey, ham and roast beef for $7.99. Feeds 3 people easily. Not at all healthy, but they are a 100 miles away.
