What are you eating right now?

Agree, I don't want to use them either. But given the choice, I would take them over those pink things we can buy in Iowa this time of year. Some kind of greenhouse stuff. Don't even look appealing and have no flavor.

I used to pick the last of them from my garden, before a predicted freeze. Still green. Wrap in newspaper and keep in a cool spot.
That earned you another month of fresh ones. I have no interest in moving to CA, but you do have advantages there.

Picklemanns. Footlong BLT with Broccoli 🥦 cheese 🍲 and a small baguette 🥖.

I quit smoking 🚬 and now I'm hungry all the time.

This afternoon I enjoyed a treat.

CHOCOLATE GÂTEAU BASQUE

Hailing from Basque country, which straddles the border between France and Spain, the Gâteau Basque is simply called “cake of the house” by locals. A buttery, slightly crispy, and slightly soft crust encases smooth pastry cream or jam. The beautiful contrast of crumbly and creamy layers creates a truly unique pastry experience, made even more special with single-origin chocolate. Our rich six-inch Gâteau highlights one of our favorite origins: 70% Camino Verde. After extensive recipe testing, we’ve perfected this tender chocolate pastry crust and velvety chocolate filling – bean-to-bar simplicity at its most delicious.
These gâteaux are best enjoyed immediately at room temperature. Store tightly wrapped in the refrigerator after opening, and consume within one week.

I beat Old Stubblechin, the HR fiend, to it! She is on cake faster than a fly is on :poop:.

Dinner today was kind of a cheat. A couple of pounds of pork cubed into 1 to 1/2 inch chunks from a cheap, nicely fatty pork roast and marinated in a bottle of Panda Express Kung Pao sauce. The pork and marinade mixture was added couple of pounds of Costco stir-fry vegetables (carrots, broccoli, green beans and water chestnuts) which were given a short pre-steam in a heavy cast iron wok. The meat/veggie/marinade mix then stewed until the meat was cooked through, maybe 15 minutes. Served over sticky short grain rice.

Did you raid Panda Express for their sauce? 😁
