Eating dinner. Also looking at Blazer/Jimmy/Bravada on eBay, Craigslist and marketplace. All the good ones I don’t have the money for lol
. There are several vehicles on my list the number one being the Blazer or equivalent. My dad tells me stay far away from the Oldsmobile Bravada version because they are problematic and have different components. I’m not sure about that I haven’t researched them as much as the Blazer/Jimmy. We called about one today that we had seen at a lot out of town and when we asked about financing the guy got really rude and said well you either have the money or you don’t. So probably not buying from that guy.
Here is my vehicle I’ll consider list:
Blazer or equivalent (1995-2005 only)
Tahoe or equivalent (prefer 2000-2006 style)
Dodge Dakota (1987-2004 only)
Explorer or equivalent (1991-2001 only)
Dodge Durango (1998-2003 only)
Chevy Astro Van or GMC Safari Van or any older van from any brand.
My dad laughed pretty hard at the last three on my list and reminded me how we are a Ford family lol
. I was like well I love Ford but they don’t always appeal to me. I then mentioned again the Explorer and he said yeah but those years had problems just like everything did on your list except the Tahoe. I was like well one thing I’ve learned as a technician is everything is going to have issues at some points and some are more major than others. The most problematic ones on my list are probably the Durango and maybe Bravada. I told him I could of listed the Ford Aerostar then he would of disowned me lol
.
I’m looking for something to daily drive to work and back probably at least most of the time. My Escape is getting up there in mileage. Turned 196,000 this weekend. The main problem with my list is all of those candidates are candidates with high mileage which I don’t have a problem with but that could also be a road to problems or anything. Good thing is as long as I have the money I’m free to buy whatever I would like. My dad said no matter how much I disagree with you on the mileage or vehicle I’ll let you decide as it’s your money and your vehicle and if it has problems they are your problems I said that’s very fair. We both had a good laugh when I said I should purposely get something manual so mom or sister can’t drive it lol
. I have my 1989 Mazda truck still but I just don’t feel safe driving it to work since it’s so far and my doors are paper thin and the truck is lightweight. Plus it doesn’t like to climb hills no matter the gear so that’s a problem lol.
Sorry if I got a little off topic from the thread I just enjoy talking about my dream cars lol
. I can’t see myself in anything new at least not the last 10 years new. But ultimately my list is vehicles that I really like and have always wanted. Every Blazer, Tahoe or Durango I see needs and engine or transmission so maybe that tells me something lol or is so rusted out that you can’t touch it without it breaking
. My dad by far laughed hardest at the Durango. He spit his drink out at that one. The Astro Van wasn’t far behind lol. I asked him why he laughed so hard at the Durango and not the Dakota he said because the Dakota was a lot better looking and some less problems but not many.
I’m sure I’ll eventually find one not loaded with mileage. And not loaded with $$$$ either. So yeah that’s what I’m doing right now is trying to find the perfect car for me lol
. I’ve found some good ones on eBay but I hate buying something without driving it plus shipping costs.
