Grilling some burgers and bacon. Unfortunately I hate grilled burgers. They just don’t taste good. Especially since I can’t eat them medium rare because of the folks saying you can’t eat uncooked hamburgers because ground meat has more bacteria than a steak. 😕. I don’t care if I want it a certain way I’ll have it a certain way. Restaurants won’t cook them that way either that’s why I avoid burgers usually.

Just had a good visit with my Daughter, Grandson, and SIL. I’m also enjoying having nothing else to do but chill and relax for a change. The past two days have been very relaxing, just the pitter patter of rain showers in the background.
Back at it tomorrow.

Trying to sleep but have insomnia. I have a 400 mile drive for work tomorrow that I should try and get rest for. Tomorrow morning will require a strong cup of coffee. So here I am on BITOG.

Still organizing the garage and setting up shelving in my new garage. I'm not sure how the contents of a 18x24 garage won't fit in a 24x36 garage ... but here we are.

I'm cheaping out. Building everything out of 2x3s and 7/16 OSB and instead of using GRK fasteners I'm using "spax'. At least they don't split every single piece of lumber like the Hillman Powerpro screws did.

Bench testing some old hardware with a MoBo I picked up on FB marketplace. Had to have some place to use my old Ryzen 5 2600 and 16GB of RAM I had left over.

Now I just need to find a case.

And yes, that's an Ubuntu 22.04 VM running in Hyper-V, and an old front panel switch I had lying around so I don't have to short the power on pins on the MoBo.
Something to do on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Eating and thinking about decisions going on at work. They are wanting to move me to the Toyota franchise but I don’t want to work on those again. I want to keep my Subaru franchise. Personally I don’t want to work on anything else besides Subaru I have no desire too. But they seem they are going to force it upon me. I set up a time with the big boss tomorrow to discuss everything and try and talk myself out of it lol. They are expanding the Toyota shop. Thing is I would not be doing a lot and I hate working on them can’t stand their designs that’s why I didn’t pick the same franchise I knew when I came to this dealership. I’m upset about the whole thing but the big boss is a pretty reasonable person and I think we can work something out so I can stay happy. If I do go over there I’ll need more money for sure as their stuff requires a lot more than Subaru lol. Plus I always get a bitter taste in my mouth about Toyota since they would never do anything for my mom when she bought her car and the serpentine belt was bad from the factory I had to replace that with my own money so automatically I know customers aren’t as well taken care of as they are with Subaru. The whole thing is a mess but he always seems to be willing to work with me. I would not be going alone he has two others picked as well but I just am my stubborn self and don’t want to go lol. My parents are telling me I should but I don’t want too so they told me to make a decision based on what I feel is best so that’s what I’m going to do and I respect them saying that and I respect their thoughts too.

Eating lunch. Also planning on what I’m going to say to the big boss today. I really hope we can work something out. I thought about it more overnight and yeah no I don’t want to go over there. I’m going to be really upset if he does make me go but I think everything is going to go ok. I’ve already talked it over with my boss directly and he told me just what my parents did and that’s only you know what’s best for you. That’s something I believe very much.

Just left the store. Now going back to watch King of the Hill like I was before we left.

The talk went nice today. My boss was very nice and reasonable and supportive like always. That’s one of the many reasons I work for this company. He basically begged me to run the new Toyota Express Lane so I finally agreed to it. We come to an agreement I would still be classified as a Subaru tech and still train for Subaru because this position is temporary he said he wanted someone competent to run the express lane to start off and get things going and he wants someone that can lead so he said when I think of those things I think of you, and then he named many various things I’ve done to benefit the company like spending my own money on tools that we need so I let everyone borrow and then training all the new people and running the shop by myself several times when I was the only one who bothered to show up for work or when all the managers were out and stuff like that. And pointed out he always knows I’m there and doesn’t have to worry about if I’m there or not. Plus the service manager who is at our Toyota franchise is the one who hired me and he thinks the world of me so I can’t let him down either. He got moved over there about 6 months ago. I miss seeing him everyday. The big boss looked me right in the eye and said that he is like you have to do this for him he is counting on you and I was like alright. And he is letting me take two techs with me because that helps my nerves a lot cause I’m one to get very nervous when I don’t know anyone and he understands that and respects it. Also letting me bring the service advisor that I feel most comfortable talking too because he is my age. I asked all of them if they would go for me and they said absolutely. We will all be coming back eventually probably in the next 3-6 months. I don’t want it to be a permanent position I want to get more years in the service setting before I go full on manager lol. He already has arrangements to have our tools moved via the company rollback. I know that’s going to drive my OCD up the wall cause everything is going to shift lol. I’ll have to fix it before I let anyone look at my stuff. It’s just right across and diagonal from where I’m at but I definitely ain’t moving my two giant pumpkins as everyone calls them lol. I still don’t feel the best about it but I’ve been assured multiple times by him and other managers that I’ll be fine and they aren’t going to let me fail. And he said my Subaru spot is my spot and no one else is taking it cause he knows that’s where my heart is at. I’m just glad I work somewhere that is always supportive of their employees and willing to work with them.

So yeah that’s what I’m doing right now just watching tv and thinking about that stuff. I took the time at the end to thank him for his time.

Good decision IMO ... you have the potential to go a lot farther and are more valued if you're somewhat flexible and get more experience across a broad range of things. That holds true at any company.
