What are you doing right now?

Eating dinner. Also looking at Blazer/Jimmy/Bravada on eBay, Craigslist and marketplace. All the good ones I don’t have the money for lol 😂. There are several vehicles on my list the number one being the Blazer or equivalent. My dad tells me stay far away from the Oldsmobile Bravada version because they are problematic and have different components. I’m not sure about that I haven’t researched them as much as the Blazer/Jimmy. We called about one today that we had seen at a lot out of town and when we asked about financing the guy got really rude and said well you either have the money or you don’t. So probably not buying from that guy.

Here is my vehicle I’ll consider list:

Blazer or equivalent (1995-2005 only)
Tahoe or equivalent (prefer 2000-2006 style)
Dodge Dakota (1987-2004 only)
Explorer or equivalent (1991-2001 only)
Dodge Durango (1998-2003 only)
Chevy Astro Van or GMC Safari Van or any older van from any brand.

My dad laughed pretty hard at the last three on my list and reminded me how we are a Ford family lol 😂. I was like well I love Ford but they don’t always appeal to me. I then mentioned again the Explorer and he said yeah but those years had problems just like everything did on your list except the Tahoe. I was like well one thing I’ve learned as a technician is everything is going to have issues at some points and some are more major than others. The most problematic ones on my list are probably the Durango and maybe Bravada. I told him I could of listed the Ford Aerostar then he would of disowned me lol 😂.

I’m looking for something to daily drive to work and back probably at least most of the time. My Escape is getting up there in mileage. Turned 196,000 this weekend. The main problem with my list is all of those candidates are candidates with high mileage which I don’t have a problem with but that could also be a road to problems or anything. Good thing is as long as I have the money I’m free to buy whatever I would like. My dad said no matter how much I disagree with you on the mileage or vehicle I’ll let you decide as it’s your money and your vehicle and if it has problems they are your problems I said that’s very fair. We both had a good laugh when I said I should purposely get something manual so mom or sister can’t drive it lol 😂. I have my 1989 Mazda truck still but I just don’t feel safe driving it to work since it’s so far and my doors are paper thin and the truck is lightweight. Plus it doesn’t like to climb hills no matter the gear so that’s a problem lol.

Sorry if I got a little off topic from the thread I just enjoy talking about my dream cars lol 😂. I can’t see myself in anything new at least not the last 10 years new. But ultimately my list is vehicles that I really like and have always wanted. Every Blazer, Tahoe or Durango I see needs and engine or transmission so maybe that tells me something lol or is so rusted out that you can’t touch it without it breaking 😂. My dad by far laughed hardest at the Durango. He spit his drink out at that one. The Astro Van wasn’t far behind lol. I asked him why he laughed so hard at the Durango and not the Dakota he said because the Dakota was a lot better looking and some less problems but not many.

I’m sure I’ll eventually find one not loaded with mileage. And not loaded with $$$$ either. So yeah that’s what I’m doing right now is trying to find the perfect car for me lol 😂. I’ve found some good ones on eBay but I hate buying something without driving it plus shipping costs.

Looking at the online sources for vehicles seeing if I find anything on my want list for a price I can afford. It’s a shame no one will loan any money to someone without credit anymore. I even tried offering them tool receipts and everything to prove I’ll pay. Several good ones I’ve found out west just problem is getting it here.

ask matco and snapon to give you a good credit reference if you buy tools on credit they should report that to one of the 3 credit agencies

Unfortunately I don’t do credit accounts with them. Too high of interest but it might be good to get started. Matco flat out denied me and haven’t tried for Snap-on. But Snap-on will probably have very high interest and I already am in debt with them enough 😂

Going in the gas station. Then get something to eat and afterwards come home and study for my state inspection practical test. Which is the one I have to do for the state trooper. I feel pretty good about it as long as I do well with the headlight machine I’ll be good to go. I know it will be a good weekend for me if I pass it.

Packing up to leave for Monticello in Charlottesville Virginia. Our tour is tomorrow at 9am. We got the premium tour which takes you they all 3 floors. Normally you just get one floor and everything else. We all have been before but want to see all three floors. We also might stop by James Madison home and James Monroe home only a maybe though lol. Then after we leave there tomorrow we will head to Tazewell Virginia to see our family then be back here by Sunday. Hopefully by Saturday but we will see.
I love Charlottesville. How did you like that tour? I thought of visiting Monticello next time I'm up there. And how do they label that premium tour on their website?

I loved the tour. It was awesome. You really do miss a lot when you only get the basic. They label it as the Behind the Scenes Tour.

Just spent good 30 mins trying to reconnect the throttle cable to the carburetor on 2001 Honda Reflex. Nut got loose on the carb side, and I lost most of the throttle. Twisting was 85% slack, and last 15% was somewhat of engagement. End result was acceleration slower than my 49CC Honda Ruckus, but still somehow managed to hold 60MPH. Dropped heavily with headwind. Got it secured in place, but still need to tighten properly. None of my wrenches fit in that space, and taking body panels off takes forever. Searching for open end angled wrenches, hopefully that does the trick, plus some loctite. But for now throttle is back, so 85MPH here I come :D

Sweet. Thanks. Probably gonna end up visiting it next year or so. Plan for this year is Biltmore. I visited when I was 16 and in High School. 29 and married now, and turns out wife never been to Biltmore, so gonna try to drag her out that way. Hopefully she enjoys it, considering how much she loves all the chick-flick movies about 18th-19th centuries.

Haha. I’ve never been there. My parents went there for their honeymoon lol. They didn’t want to go anywhere far away so they picked there. I want to go too someday.

June 30th fell off ladder at our cottage, sliced left forearm open and broke 2 lumbar vertebrae. Slight concussion from Milwaukee Drill Driver smashing my head as gravity played out. 4 days in Huntsville Hospital then 3 weeks at home waiting on surgery on my spine. July 31 get 2 lumbar jacks in L2 vertebrae with 2 rods and plates holding the L1 to L3 together - yes I will loose some mobility but not more than 10%. I'm home now with 33 staples in my back, a collection of pills and a requirement to wear my back brace anytime I am not lying down.

Arm healed fine with 14 threaded stitches. Looks semi-pro.

I am told I have osteoporosis, so this would possibly explain why I've broken so many bones in the last 20 years. FWIW, I was up to 16 breaks before this event. I also have recurring kidney stones, there may be a link. I get my bone density tested in October. My orthopedic doctor said the L4 vert is not needing any intervention and is healing up without collapse.

Take care guys.

Get a credit card, but only use it to the point where you can pay it off every month. That will help build some credit. Instead of paying cash for stuff, use the credit card and pay it off every month with no interest.

Waiting for this workday to be over so I can enjoy my weekend lol. Failed my test got too nervous but the trooper is giving me a second chance on Thursday so I have to make sure I get it then.
