It's finished at the end of the year. My plan is to get a good welding job. I may take it easy for a month or so and maybe I can plan some kind of trip or something. Hopefully I can make some friends when I get a real job. I've made one friend in my welding class that seems pretty cool. I tried to make friends with this other guy in the class but he kind of made up excuses like i'm too busy with work bla bla bla to hangout even though I offered to take him fishing.

I just need to learn to have fun by myself again. All i'm doing is wasting my life away by getting upset that nobody ever wants anything to do with me. I used to be perfectly happy in my own company. I'm not sure what exactly happened all of a sudden that caused me not to be. I guess I just started comparing others lives to mine.

Paxil is not a "mood stabilizer" it is an antidepressant in the SSRI class of antidepressants. Paxil also has severe dependency risks amongst the SSRI class of antidepressants.

I will strongly advise you against coming to an oil forum looking for medical advice.

Go for a full physical and talk to a therapist before popping a pill. A Thyroid imbalance can cause low energy so be sure to get a checkup. Good luck.

Hmmmm

First, Don't take Other Peoples lives a face value.

Second, At your time of life you should be considering where you want to be, Not were you are.

Look forward to taking a break when your course is finished.
Go somewhere different, somewhere none of your potential buddies have been.
Get a different view of life.
Good luck

I think I did. I came out of my apprenticeship the month I turned 20, although didn't sit my final written exam until a couple of months later, and the practical 6 months after that. Then I embarked on a career of 20 jobs in 20 years - as one prospective employer said, my CV didn't read as a job application but as a Who's Who. Never bored, but did a whole lot of stuff I shouldn't have done, but at least I didn't play it safe and not even think of doing those things. I should've stuck to some things and maybe specialised in something rather than go off and try something new, and made friendships out of working relationships of people who were going somewhere. I've gone nowhere, but it sure hasn't been boring.

An intelligent post. I can never understand how some folks are so ready to gulp down a pill because somebody gives armchair advice. I have a friend like that. He's got some sort of addiction to doctor visits and pills to cure most everything. Funny thing though....he never seems to stop going or really get well. Always plenty of 'advice' however.

“It is an illusion that youth is happy, an illusion of those who have lost it; but the young know they are wretched for they are full of the truthless ideal which have been instilled into them, and each time they come in contact with the real, they are bruised and wounded. It looks as if they were victims of a conspiracy; for the books they read, ideal by the necessity of selection, and the conversation of their elders, who look back upon the past through a rosy haze of forgetfulness, prepare them for an unreal life.

They must discover for themselves that all they have read and all they have been told are lies, lies, lies; and each discovery is another nail driven into the body on the cross of life.”

~ W. Somerset Maugham, Of Human Bondage

I wasn't going to weigh in on this, but why not. I'm mid-50's been there, did that. Regarding comparing your life to others: one turning point for me came when I was working a factory job. I enviously thought about how happy those other, young, newly-wed folks must be... until I heard them complain, complain, complain. I realized happiness was more a "frame of mind" than a "condition of life". I've read a lot of books about war and human suffering. That may sound depressing, but it can actually be quite liberating. When life starts to get me down I think of how others have suffered, and realize I have it pretty good.

Abraham Lincoln:
"Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Take it from an old phart. Much truth in that quote. Happiness comes from within.

Zhasmin:
"To dream and to believe in miracles do not cease."

Vera Brezhneva:
"The sun shines on everyone equally."

Just a couple of lines from songs I enjoy. A recent hobby that helps keep me going. They sound quite pretty, sung in their native language.

Peace be with you.

It must be a hobby..............

Rick in PA,

You are correct happiness is a frame of mind and not to compare your life with other people (friends, relatives, coworkers , etc....).

I'm loving my 20's, I turn 27 this month and couldn't be more happy. Sounds like you have depression, I'd go see someone about it. Nothing to be ashamed of.
