Valvoline Restore & Protect

Patman... My Costco Membership is free. I have no obligation to buy their gas, or walk inside their Club. It's just unfortunate that I want to 1) save money.... 2) get great performance in return. Just kidding of course.
I suspect that if they replaced this tester-guy and got someone honest, engine life would be good again here in S.E. Michigan for me.

I sometimes hate being Intuitive BTW. I don't want to know these insider-things really. I'm constantly bombarded with stuff that I would rather not 'sense'.

Seriously, why must I know my Kia runs quieter on Castrol Euro, versus-that of Amsoil Euro? So I really don't wish this gift on anybody.

As will a lot of DI engine owners!

I haven’t read anything to date that has shown VRP will definitely clean intake valve deposits. Then again, time will tell.

I remember seeing a Valvoline oil engineer on youtube comment that VRP possibly has a slight chance of removing a slight amount of valve deposits. But it seemed he did not want to be held to those comment in stone, as I saw it.

I haven’t been updating my results in my Civic with VRP so far but I’m already impressed with how much it has reduced my consumption even though I’m only partway through my second interval with it. My previous consumption was about 500ml every 8000km. I just checked my oil a few minutes ago and in the last 2600km it has only consumed 100ml! The true test will be how it does over a longer distance but this is still very encouraging considering that a lot of people don’t see the full potential until the third run.
I’m going to take this interval to 10,000 km and then I have a jug of 5w20 VRP that I will run for another 10,000km run. I’m confident that I will have done a good job of cleaning up this engine by then so after that third run I will be switching my 2016 Civic over to M1 ESP x2 0w20.
 
Speaking of... how often are we seeing high oil consumption on diesels? Surely they must be using the same / similar low-tension rings as the gassers. Are diesels cooking up the ring gaps?
i don’t think we hear of the same issues much on diesels but why not have the cleaning ability. there are neglected diesels out there that like to sludge up

Not nearly as often because of the high compression and the way they work. But clearly enough that Cummins and a Valvoline co developer Valvoline blue restore to solve these problems in heavy duty diesel. They chose to use high % of esters for that though.
 
Purely speculation without any before or after pictures, but I've seen the inside of the (metal) intake manifold with the throttle body removed on 2 egr equipped subarus I care for, running VRP and noticed the usual puddle of oil at the bottom of the intake manifold, but also very shiny metal. While I may be inadvertently looking for that result, I dont think I have ever seen shiny silver metal inside the bottom half of a metal subaru intake manifold equipped with egr. Makes me wonder what a lifetime of VRP would have the intake manifold carbon situation looking like.
 
I just changed to this oil with my 2016 Volvo XC90, what would you recommend as the oil change interval? Can I get to 10k without worry?
