Valvoline Restore & Protect

Following up with this, she came yesterday for a PCV valve swap. She drove 970 miles since the change and her dipstick level hasnt gone down much. I did topped off with another half quart of HPL EC so now it has 3.5 quarts of VRP with 1 quart of EC 30.

Took some shots of her fill port as a baseline reference.

i hope this works, i am also running on R&P+EC30 hoping to stop the oil burning in my accord. it fixed the woman’s accord.

I read on hear, quite a few people recommending Valvoline Restore & Protect engine oil. With it just coming out, do you have any significant evidence of the claims it makes?
I have read on other forums where it has quieted noisy engines, looking through the valve cover is cleaner, another one is where they used a bore scope on a Toyota engine..
Curious if any of you all seen any evidence..

Thanks..
have you seen this..

it had two previous EPR flushes and a berrymans piston soak but through that OCI with EC30+VRP the oil consumption tapered off to near zero. the current 10k run on HPL PCEO 5w-40 has only required 0.5 quarts of top up.
Can you show cleaning progress of the oil fill hole area?

So per Valvoline, this oil uses a specific new additive technology. It's not done through the use of esters like their Premium Restore Cummins product. They also said that anything the oil comes in contact with it will clean. My thinking this oil could theoretically clean intake valves.

It cleans by dissolving carbon slowly is what they say.
Does oil reach intake valves in a GDI engine ?

i never did take an initial photo, but it was definitely darker than this.

No, they're saying it may take up to 4 OCI's. In the LSJ video it was working very well with only 4k miles. Results will vary.
I'd say more or less based on driving conditions, for severe service might take a couple of oil changes. For an engine that is always seeing the highway in long trips might see better results in one or 2 changes.

Anyways it appears this oil is starting to show some evidence of good cleaning. I'll post updates of the friend's KIA as time goes seeing that she is highway-ing her vehicle since the BG EPR flush and PCV swap followup showed the oil did not darkened black quickly as I would expect from a typical GDI engine.

Does your engine sound change?
For me, I used it in a clean engine, I think it may wipe out the protective film previous oil left, and induced a rattle. After I switch to QS 5W30 everything quiet down again.
it is still a fully formulated oil, not a solvent based flush. it will not wipe out an oil film, old oils don’t leave any sort of special film. its induced by the oil being pumped in under pressure. K24’s are very quiet engines.
