lol yes I know. That's why I said:I actually find that in my Civic I get better fuel economy with Costco than I do with other fuels that only have the minimum amount of detergents in them
I know you get better fuel economy with Costco

My bad, I read your reply too quicklylol yes I know. That's why I said:
After reading this post earlier this week, I made a trip yo Autozone and took advantage of there BOGO and got 4 bottles. When I had originally seen the Valvoline Restore and Protect fuel additive I just thought it would be the same as all the others and was playing off the name. I was wrong, whatever is in it brought my fuel gauge back to life in my dually after B12 Chemtool, Techron, Gumout Multisystem Tune Up and TC-W3 had failed. I bought the truck almost 2 yrs ago now and the front tank never worked other than occasionally (like 3 or 4 x's) coming up between 1/8-1/4 tank when almost empty. The guy i bought it from said that it worked when he pulled it from his truck, tree fell on it, to install it on this one, thought it maybe a ground issue.
We were going camping so I dumped a bottle in my tank to try and clean up any injectors and see if it may help w mileage, havent refilled yet to calculate. While driving yesterday, i just happened to look at the dash and the guage was sitting at 1/2 after 50miles. I was pleasantly surprised as it worked for the next 50 miles and then I switched to the rear tank. It is early to say complete success as I haven't refueled yet but man I hope so. I was about to have the tank dropped and a new one installed.
Bumping in case anyone has any clarity on this, perhaps @Carguy2427 ?I'm wondering...I've heard that Techron/PEA works best during many on-off cooldown cycles where the PEA has time to coat the injectors+valves (if non-DI), as opposed to long stints of highway driving without cooldown cycles. Does this Valvoline Restore and Protect Fuel System Cleaner work any differently? @Carguy2427 What driving cycle would you recommend for best results?
You gave a good review. The only fuel additive I've ever used is Techron. Maybe this Valvoline stuff is as good or better. I know Techron cleaned up the fuel system in my riding mower. After reading this post earlier this week, I made a trip to AutoZone and took advantage of their BOGO offer, getting four bottles. When I first saw the Valvoline Restore and Protect fuel additive, I thought it would be the same as all the others and was misled by the name. Yes, and a representative from the company is even in the thread.Don't know if anyone has pointed it out yet but it is a Gold Eagle product.
Especially at BOGO.Went to my local Autozone and saw only three bottles on the shelf. I wanted to buy two and get two free so I took the three up to the counter and asked if they had anymore in the back. Luckily they did. He said they are selling a lot of them. Valvoline really hit a home run with the Valvoline Restore and Protect product line.
Lubrizol makes Costco's fuel additive package to Costco's specifications. It's added on site as the tanker dumps fuel.I would think just whomever they buy from. They can all buy from BASF etc …
My point is people go crazy with every PPM in oil formulations - but think fuel only has detergents - old EPA legacy that led to Top Tier bcs they only focused on making the EPA happy.
I think we will see more focus on a full suite of additives going forward with engines getting more complicated …
