The Chilton book for my 99 Chev truck shows SG as the current recommendation, just for comparison..
If you have the oil, and if it is the weight that you use, Then I wouldn't see a problem using it....especially with 3-4k OCI.
It may burn off a little (probably not noticeably) more than current SL/SM oil possibly, may have a little higher zinc, but if I had it out in the garage, I'd be using it in my truck(s)...89Nissan/95Chev/99Chev.
I've got some SJ marine Pennzoil 15w40 out there now that I got for $.25 ea, that I have been using in the Nissan, and mixing with 10w30 in the Chevs.
