Just wanted to let everyone know my findings so far using a UNI drop-in foam air filter on a 01 V6 Tacoma. After about 8 months and several trips off-road it has worked perfect. I check the air tube behind it and the Mass AirFlow Sensor about every month and there has been zero dust let through. I've used both a drop-in K&N and the full K&N intake kit in the past but stopped using them because of how much dust was let through off-road, even when using a dry charger and foam cover. I'm also an amsoil dealer and recommend the uni over the amsoil foam filter. The construction and fit on the uni is better. I just ordered a cone foam filter from uni to try on the K&N intake kit I have. If it works as good as the drop in, I'll be leaving the K&N kit on this time.

Good to hear. Very recently I emailed Unifilter and they are very confident their filtration capabilities are second to none. I used a Unifilter Rampod on my car and I have to say Im very impressed. Their Rampods are of excellent design and the oil is nice and tacky, which will hold the dirt. Most rally cars use Unifilter in Australia. I dont think you can ask for a better testimonial than that..

I've used UNI foam air filters on my motorcycles for years with good results. I have a Comptech/UNI drop-in filter in my Acura RSX. I've had excellent oil analysis results with it.
The only complaint I have is that the filter media is dark blue and the filter oil is fairly clear so it's hard to tell how evenly the oil is distributed in the filter. It would have been much better if the oil were dyed some color and the filter media was white.

I just checked out the Unifilter site- looks like you can order caps & stuff, but not filters. Where can I purchase a Unifilter foam filter wrap, pn 01-1110, listed price $12.95?

you can order those off the site. The page that has all the caps and shirts says unigear just above them, click on that and it takes you to all the other items. Its under the automotive section.

This is my first post and I am fairly new to the forum, but I've been reading some old threads about filters.

Basically, I an deciding whether to get a Uni Foam or K&N Filter for the Comptech Icebox. I can get both for around the same price (~$65)and am not sure which to get.

I used think that K&N filter better than foam, but afer reading about high silicon levels I'm not so sure anymore.

I am leaning towards the foam filter, but just want to know other peoples experiences with Uni/Comptech filters. Also, how durable are foam filters compared to K&N.

Tim,

The uni I have is much mor durable then the K&N's Ive used in the past. I still use a K&N in my Tundra but thats because I don't take it off-road. As for the filtering the foam is better by far. Off-road the K&N lets a lot of dust through, so far the uni has not.
