Tractor Supply

Their rain runoff water?
Essentially, yea.

My old house was slightly south of the village in a swampy area between the village and the lake. Oswego county is a giant swamp anyway.

Tractor Supply and a few others including Walmart built in a low lying swamp area. They built the whole area up probably 30 feet to be way above the water. But now there's a lot of runoff from the parking lots and they displace a lot of water detention ability.

All of the water that would collect there is now forced south to the lake much sooner and quicker. I never had major flooding issues at that house until they built that tractor supply. I think that was just the straw that broke the camels back for water retention in the area causing many issues.

Thankfully I never had to deal with water IN the house but a few people around me had that.

My TSC recently added an outdoor plant area (much like a scaled down Home Depot) and a dog wash. I’ll occasionally go there for mower-related items and nuts/bolts/etc., but my most frequent purchase there are the 50 lb bags of non-clumping Tidy Cats cat litter. I’ll buy from there unless the Sam’s Club on the far side of Austin has them on sale. Note: currently on sale at Sam’s for $10.48 until August 17. If I’m at TSC for something, I’ll also check the clothing clearance section. I’ve gotten khaki shorts for $3 and Pearl snap western shirts for $5-25.

I wanted some No-Flat tires for the front of my ZTR . TSC had them priced at $75 each . I went home and ordered two for $75 from Amazon . :p

TS prices have shot up. In 2012 I bought a lawn tractor on sale from TS for $1,000, MTD Huskee brand. I still use it.

Today TS stores have the exact same lawn tractor with the same drivetrain, controls, mower deck, seat, and body, with only a different hood with another MTD brand, Troy-Bilt, on it. But now that tractor is $2,200, over double the price in 12–13 years. And it's the cheapest model the stores carry.

How does this pricing compare to other stores? I mean hasn't it more than doubled everyplace else?

Not sure that's entirely isolated to TSC, but they've gone to Carry On trailers which are garbage and prices have also climbed considerably. I forget what their previous trailer line was called but it wasn't quite as bad.

So, double whammy of quality decline + significant price increases. I feel bad for anyone who buys a Carry On -- the quality is worse than terrible and I really am shocked we don't hear of more accidents. God watches over children and fools it would seem.

Rack it up to another example of the "ebbs and flows" of life.
Nah it's companies trying to squeeze margins at the expense of customer service. Not going to shrug it off as "that's just life". I will give my business to companies that have good customer service as a personal decision.

What the other stores appear to have done is to replace cheap lines with "premium" brands such as John Deere, so you can't really compare the price then and now. You pay a lot more than necessary to get that green and yellow paint job on a small lawn tractor. Tractor Supply is really pushing Cub Cadet now, which I expect will eventually replace the cheaper MTD models.
