The New Fram Ultra......

What I was wondering is if the Fram Titanium sold at Advance Auto Parts is going to retain the metal screen? If so that will be my go-to filter from now on, otherwise I'm going to be looking for the metal screen Fram Ultras and start hoarding them.
Doubt it will but if so, AAP stock will go up just on the filter purchases from BITOG members alone. 😄

I’m not all that concerned about the change. I only use FRAM oil filters on my Zero Turn and Kawasaki Mule. I like the Tough Guard and FRAM FORCE for those applications. They both take the 4967.

You guys are hilarious. So much negative speculation, all doom and gloom. You have no idea what the new media is, just assumptions that's it's not as good as it used to be. The trained eyes of all the 'Big Oil (Filter)' watchdogs in here have already deemed it to be inferior and thus it will be so henceforth!

I'm sure the guys who design and make oil filters probably read BITOG on their coffee breaks to get a laugh at some of the nonsense that gets posted in here. How much mileage did y'all get out of the whole carboard endcaps debacle (that has since turned a complete 180)? I'm sure that still gets a snicker in the breakroom. Now it's 'OMG no screen anymore media not as thick and pink and fuzzy NOT BUYING ONE EVER AGAIN!!'
I'm sure they'll miss your business.

I talked with Fram and basically got the run around…just going to switch to the extra guard. What filter companies don’t realize is that there are people who open filters and see changes
99% of the people that buy the filters , buy them by the manufactures marketing programs.

That’s why I’m just going back to the extra guard. The original is good enough

The other media had a similar looking inner layer. That’s the fine layer, it looks like a cost saving move on the stainless steel screen. If not needed nothing wrong that imo, but was a nice feature. They made the media thinner and stronger it looks like. TG or EG doesn’t have two layers I don’t think.

Two layers aren’t needed, it’s just so they get a longer mileage interval and filtering. If you don’t push the extra past it’s limits, it’ll be just fine. Its essentially a Wix with fiber end caps. I’d rather pay $4 vs $10 just because of metal end caps

I didn't buy these anyway due to short OCI, but considering some on here have gone much longer than 20k on Fram's lower offerings, I'm sure these will fair just fine. Surely a cost cutting move though.

Eyes wide open on the future results. I've used them for a few years (XG10675) and was very happy.
