That about sums this whole swine flu (or Mexico flu, if you are Muslim or Jewish) panic. Reaks of [censored] to me.

There have been no deaths outside of Mexico.

30,000 American people a year die from the flu. So far, 0 have died from this Mexico flu. Zero.

I just heard a news report stating that California just declared a "state of emergency" due to the swine flu. It's getting interesting.

You exaggerate ! To be in such state it's necessary that blood analysis says no blood is detected in your vodka.

Well, at least we already have an experience to wait in lines, unpleasant one, but experience, and not only with alkohol, but with other stuff too, for example, books. So, generation of 50th, 60th and partly 70th is well trained and quite ready to revive succesful tactics in difficult times. As we say, you will not ruin your experience through drinking. But most Americans have neither immunity, no survival experience.

Yep. We're probably in for some future shock in the not too distant future. Former Soviets know the drill ..so to speak. My friend from Czechoslovakia (on holiday w/parents during the 1969 Russian invasion) was telling me about lotteries. When I asked if they gave you an odd or even number so you could buy stuff, he corrected me. He said your number allowed you to stand in line for the empty shelves.

IMO, the effectiveness of oseltamivir is questionable, but if I had the flu and I had the pills, I'd certainly take them. I had the flu earlier this year (for the 3rd (4th?) time in my life) but didn't bother with a trip to the doctor for the stuff. Felt really [censored] for a few days and then generally [censored] for a week afterwards, but life goes on.

My suspicion is that the deaths in Mexico are more a result of a poor response to the situation than of the virus itself, but time will tell, I suppose.

Lots of poeple have died in Mexico, 100+ I believe. The worry is that its a new strain and they don't know exactly how it is going to impact different areas of the world.
