Oh dear #@$%!! I tried some today, eeeecccch! Tasted like a less chalky milk of magnesia. Anyone here drink that #@$%! out of choice?

My mom buys it occasionally. About $1.25 for a 1/2 qt at the farmer's market. I refuse to touch it...

I like it not as a substitute to milk but as a drink by itself. I like rice milk, too, as well as horchata.

But when it comes to milk, I only drink full fat organic milk.

Sure I drink it. I like the fresh, cold varieties not the RT UHT UP kind. I have zero problem with soy milk, except that some brands are way too sweet. It's an acquired taste and brands vary all over the map.

Depends on who makes them they can taste different. The "American" variety soy milk (i.e. the ones with only English, like Soy Dream, Vitasoy in Albertsons) are made to taste just like milk. The Chinese variety (also from Vitasoy, but with Chinese instead) taste like a very lite version of Chai tea with sugar, like a latte as a drink.

I made my own soymilk at home with just a blender and a very coast filter cloth, that's how it should taste like (the Chinese style). Just soak it overnight, blend it, squeeze it over the filter, and bring it to a boil.

I drink soy chocolate milk, the SILK brand. It makes great hot chocolate, with a little Ovaltine blended in. Good, and good for you.

As far as white milk, I still like the original skim milk.

They are good in themselves.. but I wouldnt goto soy milk expecting it to taste like "milk"

8th continent is a very good brand.. silk is a very popular brand.
they are the 2 main REFRIGERATED brands here in ohio.
not to be confused with the quarts in the cardboard box
soy milk.

homemade soy milk:
-wash beans to remove grit
-24 hrs soak in water, rinse
-puree in blender with sufficient water
-put mush in cloth, and squeeze out raw soy milk
-boil in microwave for at least 10 min., more for high altitude. Using a pot you'll end up scorching the bottom.

You can repeat the blender stage to get more out of the bean mush, but soybeans aren't very expensive, and the first pressing is the best. This will taste way better than the watery stuff they sell in stores.
